That is a good category at Amazon, but too much is Christian, they also need a separate category for clean "non religious".

Feel the same as you~ "F" bombs and religious swears are out, and no crude sexual talk!

Margaret Brownley | 9 comments Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the group and delighted to find you. Left at the Altar by Margaret Brownley

I just wanted to mention that my clean (non-religious) November release, Left at The Altar, is now available for pre-order.

Welcome to Two-Time Texas:

Love runs deep
And a single marriage can unite a feuding town
…or tear it apart for good.

message 59: by Malinda (new)

Malinda Martin So glad this group is here. I've always loved a good love story that I don't feel the need to cringe as I'm reading it. I'm just really getting started with Goodreads and would love some recommendations from the members of this group. Thanks!

Hi Malinda. I see you've written several holiday novels, and I thought you might enjoy CHRISTMAS ONCE AGAIN. This sweet novella is a time travel romance with a holiday theme.

Carol Dobson | 27 comments Storks in a Blue Sky by Carol Anne Dobson is a clean historical romance set in England and France. Storks in a Blue Sky by Carol Anne Dobson

Bonnie McCune (bonniemccune) | 35 comments I appreciate having a category in which graphic sex and extreme language aren't necessary, so this group is valuable to readers as well as writers of clean romances like me.

Tina (goosesgirl) | 1 comments I'm brand new to this so I am just learning how to navigate this group. I am so grateful for the book shelf. This is a brilliant idea. I've been looking for clean romances for years and years. This is much more efficient than just asking at the library. Thank you!!

Thanks for that information. I'm glad to see a Muslim romance novel. I've just bought the book (even though it said I could read it for free - I preferred to buy it.) I hope you will come out w/more.

Though things are much different here in America for female Muslims. In most cases it's not the religion, it's the culture.

Linore (linrose) | 27 comments Hi All,
I hope it's okay for an author to tell the group about a new clean romance release. My newest book, Forever, Lately: A Regency Time Travel Romance is clean, although there is some kissing.

I'm happy to provide reviewers with a mobi or ePub copy of it, and I have a small amount of print copies available as well. To see if you might be interested in reviewing, please see the book here:

Thanks for considering. You can contact me here with a reply, or at my email Linore (at) LinoreBurkard (dot) com.

Anne Trowbridge | 1 comments Hello! I have a question about the group rules and etiquette. I have a clean sports romance out now on Amazon/KU with book 2 in the series about to publish November 1st. My question is whether I should add it to the sports romance shelf myself, or is that something a reader should do? I just don't want to presume!

Curveball: A Love Story by Anne Trowbridge is my book that's out. (:

Jamie Orr | 13 comments I'm not sure this group is still active. Can someone tel me where readers are hanging out who enjoy clean, secular romance?

Also, is there a page or website where I can quickly check on whether a book is "sweet" or "spicy?" It's often hard to tell from the cover or blurb.

I would like to know that too, but this seems to be the only group of that kind on Goodreads. There's extension called Cleanreads you can add to the Chrome browser in which you can insert a book link in GR and it will rate the 'cleanliness' of the book. Instructions are here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Jamie Orr | 13 comments Thanks Josephine.

Another member of Goodreads pointed me in the direction of a website called "All About Romance." https://allaboutromance.com/
Apparently that organization has been around since the 90s and each review describes the amount of "sensuality" in each book. I had a little trouble registering, but I'm in now and plan to check it out. The woman who runs it recently did an interview with the Washington Post, and I thought I'd start by reading that article. The site is devoted to romance. Jamie

Deb | 3 comments Hello, I'm new to the group and Goodreads. Although I'm a Christian I prefer my romances clean and impartial. This is the place I've been searching for to find books worthy of my time and money.

message 73: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Orr | 13 comments Maybe we can get this thread going again. I'll go back over my recent reading list and see if there's anything I've enjoyed enough to recommend. Jamie

message 74: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Orr | 13 comments Wow! This is harder than I thought. I just looked back over the books I've read in the last few months and have trouble remembering which were totally clean or simply tasteful (i.e. lights off, door closed, or simply subtle bedroom scenes). The only one I'm pretty sure would qualify as clean was Mhairi McFarlane's "Mad About You." I did enjoy it and would recommend it.

message 75: by Sarah Beth (new)

Sarah Beth G. (a.neverending.tbr) I put romantic content information in all of my reviews starting with books I read last year and will continue to do that so if I have read books that are you are interested in, follow me and they will pop up at the top of the review section for you. I have a couple of contacts on here that I can always count on to include that information in those reviews and since I found it so helpful, I started doing it as well.

message 76: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Orr | 13 comments Sarah Beth,
Are you referring to you "Year in Books"?

I just found it. 217 books in one year is impressive. I think I was around 130 - 140 and none were as long as "The World Apart" (1,178 pages). I chuckled at the average length--328 pages, because my own book is 327 (paperback version).

I'll take a look at some of your recommendations.

By the way, last night I read several reviews on AAR (All About Romance.) Apparently they have a panel of reviewers and they don't always agree. For example, one reviewer gave Sally Thorne's "Second First Impressions" at "D" and another reviewer gave it a "B*". But I guess that's par for the course.

message 77: by Sarah Beth (new)

Sarah Beth G. (a.neverending.tbr) Jamie, yes that is probably the best way to find the books that I rated that way. It was quite a year! Some of them were audiobooks but most not.

message 78: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Orr | 13 comments I just ordered a book (it hasn't arrived yet) by Kristen Tate called "All the Words." She spent a year reading a bunch of books on the subject of writing and then tried to boil it all down in one book. It's non-fiction, of course. I'm lucky if I can recall the books I read last week. Unfortunately, that probably doesn't speak well for some of them.
