'Really?" he asked softly. "So it was just you?"
she nodded "just me and my dad."
"And your mom?" he asked softly.
"left when I was 4. my dad wasn't really around after that."
"Oh," he said softly. "I'm sorry."
"don't be." she said "my dad wasn't a good man anyway."
"How so?" he asked, frowning slightly.
"he did drugs and was in gangs." she replied "he went to jail when I was 13."
"Oh," he bit his lip. "I'm sorry, that must've been hard."
she shrugged "I guess that's kinda why I'm here. I followed in his footsteps."
He sighed and nodded. "That's usually the problem."
"life goes on." she said "so now that you know my story, what's yours? "
He nodded slightly. "Well... I grew up in New York, with my father, mother and sister.. We were a happy family.."
"But my mother died.. she had lungcancer," he rubbed his forehead. "That was 7 years ago."
"oh. that must have been hard."
He nodded. "Yeah. I'm glad he is.. I wouldn't want to be all alone."
"don't you have a girlfriend? " she asked. she assumed someone like him would have a girlfriend
He shook his head. "No. I don't. You? Do you have a boyfriend?"
He smiled slightly at that. "No?"
"nope." she replied smiling slightly
"Aha, so.. what did you do to get in here?" he asked her.
"I did something really stupid." she said simply
"I got involved... in a robbery. " she said
"Oh," he said, biting his lip. A robbery. It reminded him of his sister.
she nodded "it was stupid." she mumbled
"well... I was with some other guys, and they were going to rob a bank and needed someone to hack into video cameras and turn them off. that's were I come in." she said "but they said they could get my dad out of jail if I helped them... they lied." she said quietly
"Oh," he said softly. He hadn't expected this..
"I didn't know that.. Why didn't you tell the court that?" he asked, frowning.
"what good would it have done? " she asked "I helped them."
"Yes. But your intentions.." he trailed off.
"Well... it could help," he told her
"It could help. You never know. You could try," he saidsoftly.
