Looks like the eBook vendor booksonboard.com has very abruptly and unexpectedly ceased operations.

We had mentioned this site a few times on our previous book forum last year; they offered some very good deals, as well as a rewards programme that gave you cash back on future purchases with most of your orders.

Unfortunately, it seems that anyone who had any "bonus bucks" (through this reward programme) stashed away for future orders is simply out of luck.

In theory the company is only "restructuring"---but as far as I can see there's no guarantee that they'll ever be back on-line.

However, for the time being at least your account history is still accessible, so you should be able to download any eBooks you've purchased in the past, if you haven't already done so and saved them to your computer. If this is something you need to do, best take care of it right away, because I don't know for how much longer this feature will work.

PaperMoon | 674 comments Hah! I'm not surprised given my awful experience buying from them last year ... locked files, having to download more software programs to convert them into Kindle-friendly formats.

Despite decent customer service to resolve all issues, I vowed never to buy from them again.

I did have that one problem with them sending me the wrong file (for a book quite different than what I had ordered), but in that case I'm not sure it was their fault, and they did fix it in the end. Heck, I even got a free book out of it (the one that was wrongly sent). But since it was a story that involves a little of all that dom/sub/bondage stuff, I've not read it----I'm sooooo not into that!

At any rate, it's good to know that both of our problems were taken care of by the company before it ceased operations. I feel badly for those who had "bonus bucks" on file with them, though. As for me---I believe I only had about 45¢ credited to my account, so I had no great loss...
