Round II - Tower Teams Read-a-Thon
Just a note: In Message #2, there are examples of what could constitute as mini challenges for the read-a-thon (i.e. little fun things to do as a 'break' between reading pages, so nothing all that time consuming, but still kind of fun to participate in). Make note that the first two examples where the GREEN check mark is are "acceptable ideas", whereas example #3, near the RED check mark is a "no-no" idea because it's something that is time consuming (for lack of a better phrase). I noticed elsewhere that someone mistook example #3 as a suggested idea so that's why I wrote this.

You can go from yellowish to orange, green and red

That is exactly the method I was going to use! Great advice, Sonia.

Fixed, thanks.
Mary: Harry Dresden's Love Slave wrote: "What time does that start and end time translate into for EST (East Coast USA)??"If I didn't get it wrong, it will be at 10AM EST
Here's the link I'm using.

Thanks, Sonia, that helps! I'm not familiar with mangoes, and when I googled it, all I found were a funky shade of orange-ish :)

That is Amazing! Thanks
Jex wrote: "This is the start time in all time zones: Click HereAlso, a countdown: Click Here"
These are awesome and I'm going to put them in our main thread later. (Unless someone else does it before I get around to it).
I'm glad they are working for others. I was worried when someone else clicked they would revert back to being plain again :-P
Jex wrote: "I'm glad they are working for others. I was worried when someone else clicked they would revert back to being plain again :-P"Yes, it's working. I added both links to main post.
Thanks again Jex.
Jex wrote: "...start time in all time zones....countdown..."Jex, That is the coolest thing I've seen today!
Rebecca wrote: "Will audiobooks count for this if there is an equivalent print edition?"Yes, Rebecca. I'll just have people post in Page Numbers...Just About Page Numbers so that I can add them to their version.
Thank you Lisa Kay. As you are the "Archduchess of Audio" you know how important audiobooks can be ;)
I have a question about scoring.1) when scoring points for reaching page goal: are points cumulative or level-based? For example-
only one point per member up to 50% reaching their goal,
then
(cumulative) are the 20, 30, 50 points added to each other with a possible 100 plus points per member
OR
(level-based) is the max possible points for this part 50 points where all members have met their goal and therefore the team goal is met
I guess the level-based one made most sense to me for fairness, but I wanted to clarify

They are level based.
Cumulative would only work if the teams were equal in the number of members paticipating
Are we putting down our page goals here, or in our team threads, or what? Also, 1am start for me, ouch! Looks like I'm getting no sleep that night ;)

It's a 12 day readathon so don't feel like you need to start at 1am!
Do books count if they're started before the read-a-thon and finished during it or is it only books that are started and finished within the read-a-thon dates? I feel like I saw a similar question, but I was going to look again to make sure I understood and now I can't seem to find the posts. Sometimes I don't see things that are right in front of me......aging....ugh!
Rhonda wrote: "Do books count if they're started before the read-a-thon and finished during it or is it only books that are started and finished within the read-a-thon dates? I feel like I saw a similar question,..."I answered and GR didn't posted pfffff!
Yes they count. We are only validating read date.
I'm posting all the members questions on message #6 for better access.
READ-A-THON UPDATES
There are some misunderstanding about ALL the team members needed to participate to get points.
Well, they DON'T
If a team has 12 members and only 4 want to participate, that team can still earn all the points available.
We'll consider that team a team of FOUR elements to the Read-a-Thon only.

❀Oo❀, I don't know where Sonia went. We'll have to wait for her to get back on-line. Sorry, I don't want to speak for her with regards to the R-a-T.

Maybe she went to get cupcakes! haha! *wonders how many people are now hungry for cupcakes besides herself*
I'm here, sorry. You can posted here anytime. Preferable before the May 1st, but you can do it till May 8th.
The information needed is team members participating and their page goal.
If you had the time to check the page total near the start of the read-a-thon (2-3 hours before) that's good too.
Since the start is at 4PM for me and I'm not working that day, so I'll be Reserved for the Read-a-thon :D
One more question...Can same book be used for theme and cover? Or does that depend on goal/page numbers?
Quick question - I want to make sure our team selects the right cover color, will you accept blue and/or white for Team Moonstone. Moonstone can be a variety of colors and even includes pink, green and brown.
A question. How much color does the book have to have to count for reading a book of the teams color?
❀Tea❀ wrote: "One more question...Can same book be used for theme and cover? Or does that depend on goal/page numbers?"
No. It has to be one book for Color and one book for Theme.
Sonia wrote: "No. It has to be one book for Color and one book for Theme."So those who'll read only one book for RaT have to choose which one. OK thanks. I'll let teammates know
❀Tea❀ wrote: "Sonia wrote: "No. It has to be one book for Color and one book for Theme."So those who'll read only one book for RaT have to choose which one. OK thanks. I'll let teammates know"
Exactly.
You can coordinate which one reads what in order to make 50% of participants for each.
Sonia, I guess my question is what color will you guys accept for Moonstone. Will white work? Thank you!
So each player can only get pts for 1 book for each of the color and theme? I thought we could get pts for every one that read that met that.
❀ Oo ❀ wrote: "As far as I know, my teammates that pare participating will be reading a theme book and a colour read - will they get point for each book? Thanks."
Yes. One point for each.
Since there has been quite a confusion about the points, I'll post some information - hopefully with some examples - after work (in about 5 or 6 hours)

Catching Fire (other topics)Mad Mouse (other topics)

No problem. I'm still deciding if the questions will be sent by PM, posted here or in a new thread on the captains folder from the sister group. I'll have to check it with Lisa Kay.
