Samantha | 10 comments Samantha Johnson | 2 comments I have been searching for a book that I would really like to re-read. I cannot remember the name or the author, only the story line. However, when I try to search for books using any of the details, nothing matches. Please let me know if you recognize this book from the following information:

1. The heroine is disabled due to an incident before the book, where a man carved a word into her leg that resulted in nerve damage. I believe it was only the one leg, and I cannot remember the word.

2. The book's opening scene is of police responding to a 911 that the heroine did not call in. I cannot remember, but I believe her alarm was tripped and she did not get there in time to avoid 911 getting involved.

3. The senior partner of the police partners ends up becoming her bodyguard, so to speak. I believe her uncle is the mayor and requests this, as the man who hurt her was released (escaped?) prison and his whereabouts are unknown.

4. The heroine is rich.

5. I remember a scene where they are at a fundraiser or banquet and he is forced to shove her into the kitchen and guard the door, when a threat is suspected.

6. Another scene: The police officer takes her to stay in a cabin overnight (after the banquet), so that the bad guy will not find her.

7. The heroine is famous in some way, for the use of her legs. Olympic swimmer, maybe? Something to do with water, that the leg injury caused her to give up on.

8. It turns out the uncle was behind the whole thing. He paid off the bad guy to kill her.

Does anyone recognize this book? Keep in mind, this is only from memory. If you know of a book even somewhat similar, I would appreciate your input. And I would like to help you with any book you may be searching for, as well.

Thank you!
-Sam

Lit Bug (Foram) Am afraid I've never known anything even remotely close to it, but it sounds interesting, so in case you do remember the name yourself, please let us know here. :)

I know, I wish I could remember the name! I'm sorry I gave a spoiler. I hope that won't ruin it for you!

That's why you make a list! :)
I started doing it on my blog. Just on a piece of paper is cool, too. You know, while it's still fresh in your memory :p

Jaclyn Samantha, do you remember about how long ago you read this book? So we know about how old or new it is. Also, was it an adult book or young adult? Set in present day? Mostly thriller or mostly romance?

Let's see... A few years ago, and it was not a new release. So I would say it was published within the last 10 years. It was an adult book, set in present day, and I would say more romance than suspense.

Jaclyn Hmm... I keep searching online to try to figure out what book this could be... No luck so far!!

I've been in the same boat before when I was trying to remember the name of a book I had read years before. It drove me crazy until I finally figured it out!

I know, this one has been bothering me for years. I cannot tell you how many times I have searched for it online. The only reason I can come up with for not finding it, is that the storyline must not mention her disability. I even searched on here, through everything I could think of. No dice. Thanks for searching! C:

Jon (jon17) | 82 comments Samantha, have you tried groups that specialize in finding the name of books?
Here is one
I'm sure there are others but I can't recall them at the moment.

Good luck with your quest :)
