I'm not out to 'get the book' I'm just pissed off at it for being like a lot of other books in so many ways
I can understand your reaction. I read Blood Red Road first and then The Knife of Never Letting Go. I noticed the writing or the way the characters spoke were similar. I didn't react the same as you, but I did pause when I saw it. For you it feels like Blood Red Road copied The Knife of Never Letting Go and you have the right to feel that. I can't think of an example where I have felt that way, but I'm sure I may have at some point. You still liked the book to give it three stars, so I don't think you are bashing it.
I also saw your other thread about plagiarism and Blood Red Road. I don't have too much time now, but I do want to read The Maze Runner. I will get to it most likely in the summer. Then I can reply on that. For the Hunger Games...I have held off on reading it, or watching the movie. It has been said that the Hunger Games copied Battle Royale.
It was unique! The writing style was strange, and it took me awhile to get used to it. But the book more than made up for a few criticisms.;)
i really didn't like how there were no quotations, it always threw me off. but i loved the book.in the beginning, it was a bit slow, but it picked up much more after she got to hopetown.
After trowing it out the window a couple of times I got over the no quotations and the terrible grammer I liked it.
It has always annoyed me when accents are in writing. But I tried to look past it and enjoy the story.
I actually enjoyed the different writing style-accent and all. I read a lot so this was a nice change for me. It did take a little getting used to of course, but after a chapter or two, I barely noticed. I also feel like the writing style and accent helped add more personality to the characters. I haven't read The Knife of Never Letting Go so I can't comment on that.Overall I really liked this book.
