I think for the first month (May) we should wait a little bit before we have group reads, but we can start nominating for June. Let's try some titles that have six volumes or less. Codename for this theme is: Shorties.

Fauuzzie (faize) Hmm...I'm going to go with Azumanga Daioh Volume 1 by Kiyohiko Azuma . I just finished it:D It's only 4 volumes though, which makes me very sad...

Has anyone read Fairy Cube, Vol. 1 (Fairy Cube, #1) by Kaori Yuki ?
This is a very short one with only 3 volumes, and I adore this mangaka's work. She has such an awesome artstyle, and a twisted way of looking at life.

Fauuzzie (faize) No way!! I just checked out the first volume of Fairy Cube from the library, like, 45 minutes ago. IT MUST BE FATE O_O

Fauuzzie (faize) I can't really think of anything else, as most of the manga I've been reading lately aren't shorties. Absolute Boyfriend, maybe?

Hud-c | 36 comments Mmmmm... Genshiken maybe?

Does anyone ever heard of it?

I havnt read AB in ages, it would be good to revisit it again, really enjoy yuu watase manga's

message 13: by Fauuzzie (new)

Fauuzzie (faize) Of Yuu Watase's work, I've only read 3 volumes of Absolute Boyfriend, and the first one of Imadoki. I feel kinda lame that I haven't gotten around to reading Fushigi Yugi...

Samantha wickedshizuku Tolleson (wickedshizuku) | 132 comments Mod
Oh crap I knew I was missing one in the poll! Sorry about that Faize. How about I put it on the July Nom's?

Anyho, I don't know many short volume manga, I like them when they go over 10 vols. Hmm dunno why

I thought that Alice 19th really was one of her best manga. Though it seems that her editor pulled the plug on it because it was darker. If she had been able to continue that it would have been darker than Ceres.

message 17: by Tcoco (new)

Tcoco | 26 comments Really? I liked Ceres, but it look me forever to find because I couldn't remember the name lol, im actually reading Arata Kangatari, started reading it on a whim while i was waiting FYGenbu. I like it, but mann the plot is draggging big time.

Samantha wickedshizuku Tolleson (wickedshizuku) | 132 comments Mod
Agreed on Arata. Seething frustration with that one in fact. About Ceres, for shoujo I think it was fairly gruesome. By no means is it Gantz or Elfen Lied, but for that genre you just don't find many sitting the fence very close to toppling to the Shounen side. Watase's artstyle alone kept it shoujo for her love of bishounen.

message 19: by Tcoco (new)

Tcoco | 26 comments True, but i've kinda noticed a pattern, she pushes the boundaries with one manga but then balances it out with another. which is probably why she in my list of favorite mangaka. Are you finding it hard to find a 'good' manga, ive been through my shoujo phase and im kinda struggling for a good manga :(
