Why you think Barrons wants the book?? Is it to open portals between worlds or summon something evil??!

I just can't believe he wants it for something evil. I think he is desperate to find it because he is bound by something or someone. He needs it to undo a curse or release the hold on him. He has been hunting it throughout the ages, it being just out of his reach. Very frustrating... What did Fiona say in the garage, near the end of Dreamfever? "Mac being his last chance" (sorry for the paraphrasing, hopefully you know what I'm talking about?!) Makes me wonder, his last chance for what?

being that he (in Faefever) finally admitted that he thought he could get close, but realized he couldn't do it, he can't want it for evil. And as freaked as he was for Mac (in Dreamfever) when she was watching the book, I think he needs it, but doesn't want her near it either.

Shannon | 8 comments i agree laurie! i think he just wants her to find it but not go near it.

But why he wants the book i just can't decide on one thing. perhaps he wants to destroy bc its too powerful, like mentioned above---he wants it to break a curse (i'm leaning toward this one after reading the latest book).... i just cant wait for the next book. all our questions will be answered!! about dang time!

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 68 comments When we figure out Barron's relationship with the Fae, we'll know more about his motives for wanting the book.

I am a bit frustrated that we are already through the 4th book and we still don't know squat about Barrons. I swear, he needs his own book in between Dreamfever and Shadowfever. However, that is what makes this series so exciting. Knowing only Mac's point of view is like watching things unfold through her eyes.

sorry about the word-vomit issue..

Hayleyann | 1 comments I think, Barrons wants it not only to undo a curse or such that has been put on him, but maybe to change something that has been done in his past. We keep seeing this desert pop up and this small boy, a memory that is obviously very personal and very painful to Barrons. I think, it may have something to do with that. I think, that whatever the hell happened in that desert, Barrons wants to change it, resulting in whatever else that has happened to him to then become null in void.
But I don't know. Won't know until Shadow Fever...i hope.

I strongly favor your point of view here Hayleyann - Subtle clues each time Mac invades Barrons' mind and also from her dreams lead me to believe that he must have the Sinsar Dubh to either reverse a curse or even a "fateful" past event that the Fae are forgeting to remember! He wants to jolt their memory profoundly.

message 9: by Marissa (new)

Marissa (marissagarrison) | 20 comments after reading the books through a second time - I really truly believe Barrons is the unseelie king....
V;Lane says some thing in the beginning of dream fever, when MacKayla steps out of Barron's wards, to the effect of "What? was barron's the 4th, was here there? tell me" etc ect, when Mac tells him of a 4th unseelie prince...

Barrons then talks about the book and the things the unseelie king did later in the book, and seems almost wistful about them or at least trying to justify it (especially when talking of how the sifting silvers were created)

I think he wants it back because it was his book, and he wants to restore the walls and get the knowledge in there... unfortunately it has warped into something that even he is afraid to touch....

message 10: by Marissa (new)

Marissa (marissagarrison) | 20 comments ok... new theory - scrap the unseelie king... I am almost certain he is Cruce - the one that cursed the silvers...

message 11: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 9 comments Ok new to the series, and just love it...I am a little put out with the endings though. I am very frustrated that we will have to wait a while before the last one. I agree with QuinnMC I think he is Cruce. I have thought that could be a possibility for a long while now.

message 12: by Marzi (new)

Marzi ebh (nova87) | 1 comments I am certain he wants it to undo a curse ,a curse that has been put on him.

message 13: by Megan (new)

Megan I could see him being Cruce. You guys have such good theories.

message 14: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (alannarey) | 34 comments I could too. And it would make sense

message 15: by Paige (new)

Paige | 1 comments I just discovered KMM and apparently fit in well because I randomly purchased the first one (cover attracted me). I quickly devoured the rest. Thanks to you guys I have now purchased the entire Highlander series and am awaiting its arrival.

I have to throw out something that has been nagging me...I may have missed it.
Thinking back to that old woman that Mac met. The one who was telling her about her past and her mother (the lady who called her by her sister's name).
Do you think it is possible that she is somehow related to the beast? I only bring it up because she knew so much about Mac's past and that seemed to mean quite a bit to Mac.

Just throwin' it out there. :)

message 16: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 68 comments Paige, have you read the whole Fever series yet, or just Darkfever? The old woman is in the rest of the series.

message 17: by Megan (new)

Megan are u referring to the old lady who kept falling asleep in the cottage or the old lady she met in the bar at the beginning?

message 18: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I'm pretty sure Paige is talking about the old lady in the cottage. She's the one who was telling Mac about her mother and she called Mac Alina.

I don't think anyone's related to the beast because I think there are multiple beasts--Jericho & his men, who had a curse put on them that has something to do with the desert stuff and the dead boy, and that is why he wants the sinsar dubh, so he can break the curse.

But I'm thinking maybe the old lady is a relation to Dani? Something about Mac & Dani having the "sister" connection they do, and both of them having extreme sidhe seer abilities? Who knows. :)

message 19: by Megan (new)

Megan hmm, i like the thought of Dani being related to the old lady from the cottage. It does seem like Dani and Mac have a deep connection. That's a great idea Laura :)

message 20: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Bah, I'm just grasping here. Lord only knows what that woman has planned. :)

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 68 comments Ahh the woman from the cottage makes more sense.
Duh. It's friday and my brain is not working right.

message 22: by Ralph (new)

Ralph | 23 comments I love all the good comments and provocative ideas here! I'm listening to Dream Fever again and loving it for all the details.

message 23: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (authorjejohnson) | 3 comments Okay, jumping in here - I read through most of these pretty quickly, so correct me if I misquote (also, read the books a while ago and haven't had a chance to read them again), but I'm thinking along the lines of what Quinn first said about Barrons being the unseelie king (I still hold with this theory) - I vaguely remember Barrons trying to defend the unseelie king. The king supposedly created the book and the world between the mirrors because he wanted to keep his mistress immortal, and how he did all this evil for his love for her. Mac counters with the idea: 'why not love her for the time she had and let her go when her time was up? Perhaps she would have been happier then?'
So my question is, why is Barrons defending the unseelie king, who brought all this evil upon everyone? Again, please correct me if I've got this wrong . . . need to read the books again and take notes ;)
And to keep on topic, I personally feel Barrons wants to find the book so (if he's the king) he can fix the mess he made to begin with.

message 24: by Ralph (new)

Ralph | 23 comments I have to weigh in on him not being the King. Unless V'lane wouldn't know either, nor the queen. Also he has 8 pals who also 'felt' the same to the kid in the Abby.

message 25: by Wan (new)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 42 comments I don't think he is the USK either. However, he has to be someone extraordinary, who can kill both seelies and unseelies. He has to be a cross-bleed of sort.

message 26: by Taye (new)

Taye (taye06) | 13 comments I also believe that Jericho wants the Sinsar Dubh to break the curse that him and the other eight men have.

I think that Dreamy eyed guy is the Unseelie King. Either he's Mac's father or he is the fourth fae that attacked her. When Mac was at Chester's DEG said " Don't talk to it, beautiful girl. Never talk to it". He had to be referring to the Book.

I have some many theories and same that cross each other out. I cannot wait until January 18, so all of my questions will be answered.

message 27: by Wan (new)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 42 comments Hmmm....Taye, May be you're on to something here. --- never thought of the dreamy eyes guys before but yeah, definitely possible. I caught that he is not so normal as well but can't put my finger on it.

message 28: by Kim (new)

Kim | 8 comments Hi everyone! I would like to add my 2 cents to dreamy-eyed guy. I have a couple of theories: 1) He may very well be the UK in disguise and that is why he is always around. I remember V'Lane saying something like UK is in Dublin, but he has so much magic/power he may pass as a human and neither Fae nor sidhe-seer would be able to see or feel him (sorry, not a direct quote) and 2) He may be Queen Aboihel hiding in this body, just to be able to be in the middle of things to see everything that's going on. I know I'm reaching here, but its just theories. I need to stay busy until January and the release of SF. Any thoughts???

message 30: by Jenn (last edited Nov 06, 2010 05:12PM) (new)

Jenn Robertson | 12 comments My theory is that Barrons is a fae of the same class and house as Adam Black, perhaps they're brothers. In Beyond the Highland Mist the Rom tells Hawk that Adam is a Daione Sidhe(celtic mythology describes the daione sidhe as being Dark Fallen Angels. Adam was of the house D'Jai, and Jericho happens to have the D'jai relic and looks nearly identical to Adam, seems suspicious to me. I think Barrons was cursed for some reason and needs the book to break the curse. Coincidentally Adam was the "court fool" because he was being punished for some reason. Seems too connected to me to not have a reason.

I agree. I think Jericho and his men are all beasts, transformed possibly by the Unseelie King to protect his concubine.

I agree with you Kim, I think that the dreamy eye guy is either being gripped by the UK or is the UK in glamor. I also think that perhaps Elle Masters(Christian's boss at the ALD)is possibly QA. QA loves to keep a close eye on her Keltar's and loves to manipulate situations so that would be a perfect place for her to hide. Also, Elle has been providing Barrons with info.

On a side note thanks Ralph!
