Geoffrey ran towards the classroom hoping he isn't late yet. He was welcomed by stares from his classmates and an annoyed look from his teacher. "Sorry, I'm late." He headed towards an empty seat near Monique and sat.
Monique picked at flakes on the desk, saying nothing. Last night had been rough, just like tonight would be. People scared her. She was picked on a lot at school. But it wasn't as bad as home. Teachers treated her like a baby because of her autism, but they didn't know what went on in her life at home.
Geoffrey took out a notebook and a pen from his bag. He clumsily dropped his pen near Monique's chair. He was afraid to stand up and get it because he didn't want to be noticed by his teacher again. He whispered to Monique "Hey"
She looked at him a little neverous, "Y-yes?" She was always nervous.
He pointed at the floor, "Could you hand me my pen please." He smiled sheepishly at her.
She picked it up and handed it to him. Her skin tingling when his hand brushed on hers.
He noticed that she always had her head down as if avoiding eye contact and wondered why. "Thanks" he said and he started taking down notes, brushing the thought off his mind.
She tried to make sense of what the teacher was saying, but it NEVER made any sense. They didn't seem to connect.
((what happens now? XD))
He kept taking down notes, but he glanced at her way several times. He didn't really notice her then, but there's something weird and interesting about her.

((i was thinking after school is when she is transfered from her abusive home to a foster home aka, geoffrey's. :) ))
Monique sighed.

((sure, you start it XD))
The bell rang. They all stood up and walked fast out the door.

After school Monique was cowering it a cower, a fresh hot burn up her arm and her clothes sloppily replaced on her. Her father's work. He never stopped. He raped and beat and burned her. It scared her. School was hard but home was harder. She could see the candle that had burned her arm on the ground next to her and then felt the candlestick it had been on come down on her head. Again. And again. And again. She felt blood so she instinctively placed her feeble hands on either side of her head. She yelped and screamed as she felt her fingers break. She trembled as she brought her fingers off her head.
"Stupid, girl. Shut up, you," her father hissed at her. He was a tall, lean, muscular man, with hard, cold eyes. He showed no mercy she he picked her up by her bloodied shirt and pinned her to the wall, hissing profanities at her and insulting her. He pushed hard against her and she could barely breathe.
She heard a door crash open and winced. She heard people, it sounded like men yelling, "Come out with your hands up." Monique was horribly more scared now. She felt herself thrown to the ground and opened her eyes to watch her parents leave with handcuffs on their hands.
And policewoman came up to Monique talking to her confidently and easily, "Hey. Get up. Your safe now." A police woman. She cowered in the corner, shaking her head. She was terrified right now.
The policewoman crouched down, "It's ok honey. You can trust me. I want to help you." After thirty minutes or so of coaxing Monique took her hand and came out.
She was escorted by the policewoman, who set her in the passenger seat of the car. She drove to a nice white house that was a lot prettier than hers. The policewoman led her out and rang the doorbell. She was gentle as she said, "This is your new home."

((oooh, *shivers* ^^))
Geof drove home with his beat-up Toyota from band practice. He parked in the driveway and stopped the car. He went inside and into the kitchen, grabbed a Coke. He went to the living room and on the couch was Monique. His mother came out from the vacant room upstairs. "Oh hi, Geof, this is Monique. She'll be staying with us from now on." He stared at his mother and faced Monique "Hi".

She waved awkwardly at Geoffrey, "H-hi."
He faced his mom "Mom, could I speak to you in the kitchen?" and he went to the kitchen not waiting an answer from his mom. "What's the matter?" his mom asked. "Why is my classmate Monique staying here?" he asked. "She's the one I'm telling you about? The one we're going to help?" his mom answered. "What!?" he exclaimed, he noticed his voice raise and lowered it immediately "I thought it was a little girl". "No, it's the one seating on the couch right now, she's gone through a lot, Geof" his mother said "Now, go there and make her feel at home". He can't say no to his mom, his family has always been kind to others and he should be too. He went to the living room "want a coke?" he said to Monique, handing the coke to her.
((brb, lunch))
She smiled and took it, "Thank you. Y-you're Geoffrey, right?" He had seemed ok at school, but even now, she didn't meet his eyes. She didn't want to. She was scared his eyes would be cold and hard like her father's.

((suuure))
"Yeah, and I know you're Monique" he said and smiled at her but she kept her head down. "Uhm, soo want to watch some TV?" he asked her. He picked up the remote and turned it on.

((bak))
"Sure," she said and took a sip of Coke. It was a nature special and she grinned. She loved animals.

He notice her smile for the first time. "Like bears, huh?" he asked her.

((kk))
"Animals in general," she corrected sheepishly.

"Favorite animal? Like mine is goats, and yours is...." he said waiting for Monique to answer.

She bit her lip. Her answer was barely a whisper, "Anything but people."

He was a bit surprised by her answer. "and yours is anything but people. Cool" he said. Then they sat there and watched a bear catch a fish with its mouth.
"The poor fish," she said quietly to herself. She sighed.
"It's nature. The bear needs to eat and the fish needs to die in order to maintain the ecosystem" he said "Or at least that's what our teacher said" he turned to mher and smiled.
"Why can't the bear eat plants or something?" she said, feeling humiliated.
"Because, I don't know, they need to show they're the boss" he said and laughed a little.
She cringed when he said that. Her father always said he was the boss, "B-but that's not fair to the fish. The fish must have a life to. Family, friends, people who will notice her gone. He shouldn't hurt it."
He remembered what his mother had told her about the girl who was going to stay with them - the beatings, the bruises. He felt really bad. "Yeah, it's unfair." and he sat there silent.
She felt tears in her eyes. She told herself to not think about it but that was ALL she could think about now. She held her knees to her chest.
He notice Monique hold up knees to her chest and said "Hey, hey, i'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." He didn't know what to say.
She bit her lip, "I-I-It's not your fault. M-m-my dad said he was the boss a lot. th-that's all." And then he'd beat and rape and burn me until I knew I wouldn't because that would be to merciful.
"Oh" he whispered. He moved closer to her and wrapped his arms around her. "Don't worry, he'll never get close to you" he assured her.
She tensed at his touched for two reasons. One. He was a boy and a person and she always felt scared when people touched her. Two. He was accidentally pressing right on a really fresh burn.
He felt her tense when he touched her and immediately backed away. "Sorry... reflexes" he said apologetically.
"It's ok. You just happened to touch a fresh burn. Still not your fault," she sighed, "Plus I'm not used to people touching me without wanting to hurt me."
He sympathetically looked at her. "Did they bring you to the hospital already?" he worriedly asked.
She shook her head, "Just the doctor. It should be fine in a week or two."
"So, what do you want to do now?" he asked, the guilty feeling still lingering.
