Introductions

The most recent books I've read are the KingKiller Chronicles (they were long but amazing) and Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey (all story and no developed characters). I'm currently finishing up the first book in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive. It's awesome so far but long... very long.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and potentially reading some of the books of the month (the Theft of Swords is actually on my reading list but I haven't bought the book yet).

Welcome to the group! Its great to hear that you enjoyed the Elantris and Promise of Blood! I also enjoyed both books!

Hello Drake, and welcome to the group! I just finished Elantris, and although it was my first dive into the Sanderson waters, I really enjoyed it.

Welcome Evgeny! I took a long brake from a lot of fantasy too and have just recently come wandering back into it. I haven't read Conan or Malazan, but they are on my radar.

Hello Casey! I hope you enjoy our little group. =) Feel free to join into any of the conversations. We all love discussing books here. =)

Heya Kala. I will read just about anything too. I've joined a variety of groups on Goodreads, but this is the first one I've started and co-moderated. Hope you have fun here.

Welcome Kathy!
Which books are you looking forward to?
There will be some polls to vote on July's titles coming soon, so keep an eye out for those. ;-)

Welcome James! I look forward to getting to chat with you about books. Those are some great motivational pictures you've got on your page. =)

James -- want to try a completely new book -- just out in March -- check out my first book - The Riddle of the Jade Collar -- it's more than just a YA fantasy book.
Hans

Anyway, I'm really excited about being in the group and I'm looking forward to having some good discussions about books!
Welcome Paul, my favorites are low magic books to GRRM and Abercrombie are two of my favourites! Although i do like magic system that are very original(not some LOTR copycat). ex. Mistborn, The Way of kings, Lightbringer series ... etc. Looking forward to having some book discussions with you.

Welcome Paul!
I haven't read Abercrombie yet, but he is on my list of things to pick up. As for GRRM, I just started reading him last year and only just finished A Storm of Swords a week or two ago, but so far I LOVE his work. I look forward to chatting about books with you!

And welcome Allison. Sounds like there are a few GRRM fans here so you should be in good company (and I completely agree with you about Wise Man's Fear being slightly disappointing).

Welcome Allison!
Other than GRRM, I've not read any of those others yet. I look forward to chatting about books with you!
Paul said: "Kristina, I'll be interested to hear what you think of Feast for Crows when you get to it."
Shaad is currently doing a re-read of the series and I've decided to not start it until he gets to that book again (He is currently on A Clash of Kings). Haha =)

Welcome CJ.
Shaad is a wealth of information, isn't he?

Welcome Cj, I still have not read Neil Gaiman bt I am looking forward to reading his books. We are slated to read American Gods in June. I am really excited! Looking forward to discussing the book with you!
Allison wrote: "I also picked up a book by Guy Gavriel Kay (Tigana) and would like to check out some of his other books."
Welcome Allison, I read Tigana Last Year and I thought it was awesome. I am also looking forward to reading his other books very soon!

I was that kid who always had her nose in a book - usually something with a sword or a wizard on the cover. I've been in literary exile for the last 10 years or so, a refugee in the war zone of life. A fragile peace has broken out, and I'm coming back to my first home: the land of magic and heroism and epic storytelling. I'm looking forward to discovering all that's new in fantasy, and rediscovering old favorites.

The truth is I also had not read a novel for five until last summer when I started reading game f thrones and Ioved the book and now I can't stop reading!

Thanks for the welcome - I actually got back into reading about a year ago when I set (almost) everything else aside to write. My first book is in edits now, so I've been devouring other people's stories during breaks, when I've been staring at my own for so long that the words stop making sense :)

Sorry for the delayed welcome, I'm in the process of moving. I look forward to discussing books with you both!

And Michael Sullivan, as one of your kickstarter backers, I am anxiously awaiting my copy of Hollow World". :)
Speaking of kickstarter, I saw these playing cards and thought I'd pass the link on because the theme is so appropriate for this group ( hope that's ok)

Look forward to following the activities here!

I'm a new author from the standpoint of having just published my first work on KDP, but I've been writing and creating stories, worlds, and characters all my life. I like to think I'm strong in the area of character development - I'll have to see what the world thinks, though.
I've been a role-playing gamer since 1975 (anyone remember blue box D&D?), and got roped into DMing after just a couple of sessions, and that's when I began writing, as well. I've written novels, short stories, campaigns, adventures, you name it.
I'm extremely fortunate to be married to a wonderful woman who is also a fantastic professional editor, and my work is much the better for her efforts.
I look forward to meeting you all and getting the hang of this Goodreads stuff. :)

Hi Elise -- welcome. I also recently joined this group. Read the Tolkien books years ago. Check out new book just published in March this year. It's on Goodreads; The Riddle of the Jade Collar, by Hans Alric Vakker. It's a very interesting read.

@Eduardo - Goodreads is great, isn't it? I've been using it for about two and a half years now, I love it!
@Elise - Those cards are pretty cool!
@David - Welcome to social media! =) Good reads is a great way to connect if you love reading and writing. Everyone here has that same interest in common =)
@Hans - Welcom Hans! I look forward to looking up your book and discussing books with you here in our discussion groups.
Welcome David! Looking forward to discussing books with you and also goodreads is pretty awesome? I joined in December and since then I have been actively using it! It's such handy tool to keep track of you reading!

I’ve been an avid reader and writer of epic fantasy for as long as I can remember. I’m also a Student Emmy® award-winning filmmaker, a sailor, and a lover of art and all things beautiful or done well.

Welcome Lesley!
I look forward to discussing books with you too!

My latest novel is The Scars of Ambition, an epic fantasy with a modern, industrialized settings that's been most recently called "Game of Thrones meets Mad Men." Feel free to send a PM if you'd like a review copy.
Looking forward to getting into some discussions with you!
