Right now I'm reading an amazing book "Brain On Fire - My Month Of Madness" by Susannah Chalan. It's an autobiography of 24-year old Susannah's harrowing decent into paranoia, experiencing hallucinations, wild mood swings, total forgetfulness of long periods of time, epileptic fits. She's hospitalized in an epilepsy ward. All tests done on her come back negative for most things. To go by the lap results, she's well. Still, she sinks deeper and deeper into insanity, is a short step away from death.
In the end, her life and sanity are saved by a remarkable doctor who discovers she has an autoimmune disease by which the body consumes the brain.
It's well written, fast paced, very courageous. You can go wrong with this book, expected to become a classic in its genre.
