I felt the same way about Old Blood but we learn so much too... Not a light book by any means.

message 103: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Hey, I noticed there's a lot less typos in the last 2 books. A nice smooth read, ahhhhh. Halle must have a larger editing team now - more eyes to find those boo-boos.

Wendy - heh, we're cracking each other up FUN!

Just finished And With Madness Comes the Light (view spoiler)

Lisa | 383 comments Lori, I don't know how you survived waiting for other EiT readers to catch up and discuss with you. How long did you have wait? How did you discover this series?

Dex Files (view spoiler)

Into the Hollow (view spoiler)

message 109: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Lisa, I stumbled on a free eBook offer for Darkhouse. The blurb appealed to me, even though I wasn't sure. But GR and friends like those here at True Love 101 have opened my reading genres and introduced me to lots of genres, authors, and series I would never have found on my own.

I'd already raced through the whole EiT series before Kay, Wendy, and Leea started reading it... so while it felt like months, it was probably only weeks. I think Ladyhawk was reading the series about the same time, too.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hey ladies, for fans of this artist if you buy the kindle version of The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle (3.99), the audio version from audible is only 1.99. Which is an amazing deal.

Where there links for book trailers or pictures that you were all referring to? I can't find them.

message 111: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I do want to read that one!

They were in the Buddy read thread. Here they are though, so you don't have to go looking for them.

(Interview with Dex and Perry, but takes place between Red Fox and Dead Sky Morning)

Interview starts at .45 seconds.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I Have so much to say but I never get time to write anything substantive. Sorry ladies I am reading your posts and want to respond. I'll just say this quickly in response to Wendy's and mine discussion. Demon's Wing/Lying Season (view spoiler) Of course I haven't read #6 yet.

I thought Old Blood explained a lot, but it wasn't as fun to read. I can't wait to settle down with In the Hollow tonight.

I love Dex and Perry. I love them as individuals, as a team and as a couple. I love the dysfunction and the realistic stumbles they have. Life and romance is not always beautiful and we often see the dirty sides of those we want -- and I love that she writes about that.

message 113: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Me too! That's one of my favorite thing about the series, how I feel like it all just feels like real people. They don't handle things properly, they don't make the right choices...

See, I guess I felt like (this is all safe, lol) (view spoiler).

message 114: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Thank you Wendy!!

message 115: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments You are definitely right, I agree with you. It wasn't healthy, lol. But I could relate to her - my heart literally broke.

message 116: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments For sure. It was so hard to read.

message 117: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I think I watched the majority of the book trailers I could find. They are cute and fun to watch. The Perry isn't "my" Perry but I still like them.

I am 50% into Into the Hollow. I love the setting. I also love the references to pie. :)

message 118: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments The Perry isn't my Perry either. Dex looks pretty good though, though I still love Emile Hirsch.

message 119: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments He looks good to me too. :)

message 120: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments So ladies, what does one read while waiting for Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle ???

message 121: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I still don't know... haha! I haven't found anything that's grabbed my attention like Perry and Dex have. Good Luck! I may just read World War Z.

message 122: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Haha, I had to jump to a whole new genre and I started reading the Seven Realm's series.

There was no way I could continue on in a similar genre after Dex and Perry!

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Regina wrote: "So ladies, what does one read while waiting for Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle???"

If you haven't already, you could pick up the m/m series Cut & Run. Great characters and tons of fun in its own right.

message 124: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I haven't Tellulah, I will take a look. :)

message 125: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I think Leea and I will be reading that soon.

message 126: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh I thought you had read it? Let me know before you start please!

message 127: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Nope not yet. It's on our list but we decided to do EiT first.

message 128: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Cool. I am liking And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror, #6.5) by Karina Halle

I am not someone that usually enjoys the male POV -- for example, while I loved Fever and I love Kate Daniels -- the Curran and Barrons POV are just meh for me. But I am loving being with Dex. ;)

message 129: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments That's how I was with the Curran and Barrons POV's. I'll be interested in seeing how I fall on the Terrible Novella that is coming out. But there's something really awesome about Dex's POV.

I liked the first half of Madness; it was the second half where I sort of lost interest.

message 130: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Because he is so real. Ah, I am not at the second half yet.

I lost interest in Downside Ghosts and never finished the last book. So I won't be looking for it.

message 131: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments LOL, you lost interest just before getting me addicted.

message 132: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Haha, I think it may have be in the midst. ;) But that was last year, perhaps I should try again.

message 133: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I loved book 5. It was awesome and had some of my most favorite Chess and Terrible moments.

That's funny. You've made me realize that as much as I love Barrons, I have no real interest in his POV. But I did love Dex's - when it wasn't repetitive.

message 135: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Haha -- the difference between Dex and Barrons as men I would want to be with -- well the difference is immense!

message 137: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Nice, Regina! I hadn't seen those before and helped my Dex/Perry withdrawals a bit. Dex's blog entry cracked me up, especially how Perry can tell the difference between a fart and paranormal activity LOL!

message 138: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Wow, Jenn really let the cat out of that bag! Loved Rebecca's letter too! Thanks for posting.

message 139: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments You are welcome! Yay -- I feel like I can finally add to the discussion, lol. For so long I Have been behind. :)

message 140: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Loved that!

message 141: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Karina seems to spend a lot of time writing stuff for her fans.

message 142: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I really appreciate the time authors devote to their fans, when they write extra stuff, blogs, etc. You can tell when they really get into their books and characters - it feeds the fans' hunger for more. Ilona and Gordon Andrews does that also and I really love them for it.

message 143: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Good stuff, Regina! Thanks for posting the links.

message 144: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Regina, don't feel bad. I'm usually the one waaay behind!

Dex Files (view spoiler)

message 145: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I agree, Ladyhawk. Until you get Dex's POV, you just never quite know. Maybe because we see it through Perry's eyes... but it's so easy to assign more than one meaning to his actions and words. That's why I really enjoyed reading the shorts through Dex's eyes.

Listening to Neon Trees - I'm not quite the metal girl that Karina Halle or Perry is, but Neon Trees songs remind me of Perry & Dex, somehow - "Everybody Talks" and "Animal" remind me a lot of Lying Season. "Teenage Sounds" reminds me of Ada or the party that Perry was at that started her teen year "issues".

message 146: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I love Neon Trees, lol.

message 147: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Search function is down so I can't post the book, but Sins & Needles and the pre-quel are both on sale for .99 cents each.

Since I still need to get my copy of Sins & Needles, that was excellent timing - thanks for the heads-up, Regina! And I pre-ordered the prequel :) Also, plan to get Devil's Metal with the Whispersync audible book. It IS an excellent deal! And it takes place in Ellensburg, WA which is near where I live!

message 149: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Karina is listing a June 23rd publish date for "Come Alive"... check out her author page at GR for that info PLUS a giveaway she's doing: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

You have to post your favorite Dex quote on her web site.

message 150: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh cool -- thanks!
