Just finished And With Madness Comes the Light (view spoiler)[ I think this scene was in On Demon Wings but to be safe, I'm putting it here because it was in this book too. Where Dex goes to the Thin Veil to bring back Perry and he asks her, "For all the things I've done to you. Will you forgive me?" And Perry answers, "Of course". So what's the deal? Must've been her heart talking but her head wasn't in agreement. I think that's what her conflict was - head and heart. Isn't that usually the case? LOVED the ending of this short story!! Made it worth it, IMO. And also, reading Dex's reaction and thoughts/feelings to finding out about the pregnancy/miscarriage. Oh man... (hide spoiler)]

Dex Files- I don't like the (view spoiler)[ Ginger reference either. But Dex has me very entertained with his expletives in the Dex Files. So far he's got me with "fuckity fuck" and "whatthefuckever". I'm not really one to drop an "F" bomb but for Dex it's perfectly natural. (hide spoiler)]

Dex Files (view spoiler)[ Those creative expletives LOL! Dexisms - love em!! Not sure this was really a spoiler but... I'm back on Max and trying to put my Max spoilers in the correct book, if I can. In this book, when Dex first meets Max and asks who he is, Max answered "Jacob". And then frowned, catching himself and says, "No. Jacobs. Maximus Jacobs." Is Halle trying to make that any more obvious or what? He's GOT to be a Jakob. Or Halle wants us to think he is. (hide spoiler)]

On Demon Wings (view spoiler)[ Max calls Dex, "Son" and Dex looked at him weird and thought (don't think he said it out loud) "Son?!" It could be Max's way of talking down to Dex or it could be due to the fact that Max is MUCH older than Dex, older than he appears. (hide spoiler)]

Into the Hollow (view spoiler)[ Did anybody else feel at first that Bigfoot was a demon creature? I thought it when Dex and Perry met Christina at the diner and she was going to show her leg wound. The way she described the attack, it reminded me of the thing grabbing onto Perry's legs and dragging her to the space under her bed - the torn jeans and all. Christina or Rigby described glowing red eyes but Perry didn't see that later. Also, the beheading and gutting reminded me of the pig. This was no Bigfoot. (hide spoiler)]

Dex Files (view spoiler)[That's what got me wondering. I noticed it before, but that reference stood out. That's what started Wendy & Leea & I trying to figure it out. It does seem really obvious there, doesn't it?

I could barely stand it until SOMEONE got far enough into this series, so that I could ask what they thought about Max! Can you see why it was killing me? (hide spoiler)]

Into The Hollow (view spoiler)[I never thought about the creature being a demon... it seems to fit, and I can see how you'd relate it to Perry being dragged under the bed. Wow! I guess the only thing I'd say is that the creature had a corporeal body - one that could be shot and more. But it doesn't seem to die, so who knows?

As for the pig thing... wasn't that Perry, "under the influence"? Demons don't have bodies, which is why they try to possess bodies. I know they can do some freaky things without having bodies, too, but I figured that the demon was simply making itself known by causing mischief in Perry's body. I figured it was all part of her "losing time" black outs. (hide spoiler)]

Into the Hollow (view spoiler)[ Even if it was the demon inside Perry that slayed the pig, it was still an evil entity. How did she get herself so cleaned up after? She looked at her nails for blood and crud but they were clean. Demon magic? I know, how did she paint her nails and the polish is no where to be found? Demon magic? LOL I'm trying to remember what Jakob told Pippa about demons out loose, looking for her...will have to look for it. So if Bigfoot was a demon thing, it didn't seem to be on the search for Dex & Perry until they arrived. Well, it doesn't make sense, that's for sure. It just had similarities to demon havoc in the previous book. Sooo, Dex's mom...surprised that she only made that one appearance but will expect her to pop up again soon. Oh man. What will Perry think when she finds out what happened? (hide spoiler)]

Lisa, I stumbled on a free eBook offer for Darkhouse. The blurb appealed to me, even though I wasn't sure. But GR and friends like those here at True Love 101 have opened my reading genres and introduced me to lots of genres, authors, and series I would never have found on my own.

I'd already raced through the whole EiT series before Kay, Wendy, and Leea started reading it... so while it felt like months, it was probably only weeks. I think Ladyhawk was reading the series about the same time, too.

I Have so much to say but I never get time to write anything substantive. Sorry ladies I am reading your posts and want to respond. I'll just say this quickly in response to Wendy's and mine discussion. Demon's Wing/Lying Season (view spoiler)[I see what you are saying about after -- the extreme steps she went to. But I get it. She was trying to be healthy, trying to not repeat her past and trying to move on. I have been cheated on and did not do a clean break and then when I felt betrayed by a man subsequently I know I over reacted in terms of how I separated myself but it is the learning from trauma. So I can see and understand why she did that. I also applauded her. If she hadn't take such extreme steps Dex might not have done everything he did and gotten in to such a health place. (hide spoiler)] Of course I haven't read #6 yet.

I thought Old Blood explained a lot, but it wasn't as fun to read. I can't wait to settle down with In the Hollow tonight.

I love Dex and Perry. I love them as individuals, as a team and as a couple. I love the dysfunction and the realistic stumbles they have. Life and romance is not always beautiful and we often see the dirty sides of those we want -- and I love that she writes about that.

Me too! That's one of my favorite thing about the series, how I feel like it all just feels like real people. They don't handle things properly, they don't make the right choices...

See, I guess I felt like (this is all safe, lol) (view spoiler)[in Perry's case it was the opposite of healthy. Her and Dex's relationship up to that point had been good for the both of them. In fact, when she would do something mean to him he was right there to forgive her, help her. Sure, he should have dumped his girlfriend, and sometimes he'd say something a little harsh, but it's not always that simple and she'd do the same thing in other ways (back to how they make realistic human mistakes/choices). Normally I also applaud when women finally make a clean break, but in this specific scenario it felt a little out of control. It didn't feel to me like she was trying to be healthy or not make the same mistakes, it felt like she was just flying out of control and losing it. I think they're both so screwed up, and their first instincts (The both of them) is to react like a screwed up person and that's what they both did (hide spoiler)].

I am not someone that usually enjoys the male POV -- for example, while I loved Fever and I love Kate Daniels -- the Curran and Barrons POV are just meh for me. But I am loving being with Dex. ;)

That's how I was with the Curran and Barrons POV's. I'll be interested in seeing how I fall on the Terrible Novella that is coming out. But there's something really awesome about Dex's POV.

I liked the first half of Madness; it was the second half where I sort of lost interest.

From Perry's POV, Dex was flirty and perhaps we would see a glimps of something more than just partner interest for her, but the way Dex tells it, it's constant lust after her. He was captivated from the beginning. Boy he hid it pretty well considering how bad he really wanted her! (hide spoiler)]

I agree, Ladyhawk. Until you get Dex's POV, you just never quite know. Maybe because we see it through Perry's eyes... but it's so easy to assign more than one meaning to his actions and words. That's why I really enjoyed reading the shorts through Dex's eyes.

Listening to Neon Trees - I'm not quite the metal girl that Karina Halle or Perry is, but Neon Trees songs remind me of Perry & Dex, somehow - "Everybody Talks" and "Animal" remind me a lot of Lying Season. "Teenage Sounds" reminds me of Ada or the party that Perry was at that started her teen year "issues".
