yupppp! me too! today I had a chamber performance of American in Paris Suite by Gershwin... I was in a group with the top musicians in every section, and I literally felt like I didn't belong. I mean, technically, I'm the top musician in the winds, seeing as I'm principal flautist, and have been for a couple years. But... I don't feel that way. I was like, "AHHHH PANIC PANIC PANIC PRAY I HIT THE NOTES ACH I'M SO SORRY EVERYBODYYYY"

yeppp except Aaron is the same actually. He hides it, I release it. I think it helps keep him grounded. He's delusional, but in a good way. I think it's ridiculous how nervous and insecure he gets. but his confidence face is impeccable - the audience will never be able to tell.

I mean, I only knew it because he told me. and then there was this time when we were in rehearsals next to each other for this production, and I heard him day in and day out for around five hours of practice a day, play his part in rehearsal. it was perfect. pristine. I had his phrasing, his part, his width of vibrato memorized because I had heard it so many times.

show comes. it sounds brilliant to the audience, but the first time, I literally stared at him for the entirety, hearing all his mistakes and slips. he bludgeoned through the thing, I tell ya. and when he finished a particularly difficult piece, he audibly sighed in complete relief, only to glance over and find that I've noticed. He smiles shyly. "I get nervous." I'm like, "I can see..."
