Yeah, the rough music gets me all stressed out. I don't want music like that to constantly scream at me, and when it does, it makes me feel angry.

LOVE Chris Tomlin! Never heard of Ginny Owens.

Laura Story is the best!

And Point of Grace!

message 1407: by T.C. (new)

T.C. Slonaker | 566 comments It's funny. I didn't start getting into Skillet and other harder rock groups until I was in my 30's! So it's a little funny to me to hear you young folk (he he) talk about pots and pans and stuff. But it's refreshing that you can all keep your own minds about you instead of just following trends or stereotypes. Oh, and by the way, I also love the old classic stuff like Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole. Depends on the day.

And I will say that my favorite song right now is Lay Me Down by Chris Tomlin.

Chris Tomlin is good for church stuff but a bit slow for day-to-day christian pop. idk just me. Although who doesnt love them some beethoven sometimes? I think I'll go mourn our generations lack of appreciation and respect for the finer genres

Yes... it is simply horrendous that a young lady can sit with her friend at a young people's event and say, "I love Justin Bieber!" and no one will bat an eye! Whereas if the same young lady sits with her friend at the same event and says, "I absolutely adore Chopin!" people will look at her with ghastly expressions.

Of course, I don't experience anything of the sort. At my arts school, if I declare a burning passion for Nicki Minaj's music (it pains me a great deal to say music, for I can't stand that sort of... noise... production... that she does), I very well may be shot down or clubbed over the head with a tuba or trombone. The kindest reply I'd receive is a violin bow jabbed into my arm, which, in fact, hurts less than a trombone bell to the head. Fortunately, I can declare a burning passion for all things Chopin and only have agreement, or at least, acknowledgement. I quite like my school.

As a random note, I find it absolutely refreshing when people listen to music you wouldn't expect them to. Like this emo/goth guy, who dresses in nothing but chains (save for his underwear, of course), is actually a hardcore classical guy, and he is an excellent violinist/trumpeter. And when all these hardcore classical dudes, who dress in their beautiful jeans and polo shirts, can actually go nuts to some heavy metal. LOL, it's so entertaining to watch! I've learned to never judge by a person's appearance what sort of music they appreciate. :P

message 1413: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Sam, I would think the reaction to Chopin would be less horror and more confusion like "who is that?"

message 1414: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments That's very true. But then if you proceed to excitedly play a portion of Chopin's divine concerto in F minor, they'd all roll their eyes and fall asleep, which is probably worse :P

message 1416: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Well, maybe. :) I really enjoyed the Grand Piano Extravaganza our college put on every (other?) year. 8 pianos on a stage and sometimes as many as 3 people per piano. Awesome.

message 1417: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 4404 comments THAT SOUNDS AMAZING! I AM INSPIRED TO START THAT AT MY SCHOOL! With almost every musician also a pianist, it would be easy! I am going to do this!

That would be amazing! I just need to finish the crazy editing process. X(

Maybe some day I'll be able to let go of everything that weighs me down.

Ugh! So depressing...

How 'bout this one: Maybe some day I will meet each and every one of you. Wouldn't that be the most wonderful thing in all the world!

Hibari Hanana *(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ* (pichu799) | 44 comments Maybe, eh? :3 Well, according to God, we'll see each other in heaven, no?

His genre is not christian pop, though. And I enjoy listening to worship songs even when I'm not in church. I prefer slower worship songs over christian pop any day, actually. :)

I worked for a few years as a substitute teacher at a nearby Christian school, and the first day I was called in, during one period, I got up from the desk to walk to the front of the room and tripped over the wastebasket. I didn't fall, but I did stumble several steps trying to get my balance. A random boy picked it up for me, and we all laughed, which made me a lot less nervous....but that really wasn't the impression I'd planned to make. :)

message 1432: by [deleted user] (new)

I can think of some embarassing moments, but I wouldn't call them funny. It still pains me just thinking of them.

O MY GOSH, TOO MANY TO COUNT!!! But here's one:

So a bunch of my friends were hanging out outside, and one of the girls was holding a fuzzed-up dandelion and joked, "If I blow all the fuzzy things off, my wish will come true." (my friends do odd things)

Then one of the guys said, "I'm right here."

Gosh, I could tell you story after story of my friends, they all do the weirdest things.

Come on, maybe you have a younger sibling who said something weird once that just made you crack up? My brother does that lol. Or do you have weird friends? Surely, with all the weird people you have in this group, you have at least ONE weird friend? Or are you the weird friend lol. Just kidding. :D

But seriously, there has to be SOMETHING!

message 1446: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1541 comments Yeah there's probably a bunch of stuff....just nothing that comes to mind. Oh! Okay, got something!

A couple years ago my sister got a robotic tarantula. It looks SCARY real, and is just, ugh, horrid! It moves like a real spider would, it's "fur" or whatever you call that feels and looks like how it is on a tarantula! Just everything about it seems real! Now keep that in mind as I tell you the rest of the story.

Okay so there was this elderly lady who came to our house one day and she's really "strong" and kinda serious and stuff. So she was leaving our house and she went downstairs to go out that way. And then I remember hearing this ear piercing shriek/scream! And my mom like, ran downstairs and the lady had her hand to her chest and yelled hysterically "there's a giant spider right THERE!". And then my mom told her that it was just a toy and how her daughter must have forgot to put it away. Needless to say the woman didn't burst out laughing!
