Thought this article about adding diversity was kind of cool

It's not very long, but it does mention diversity is much more than race, and it's best not to forget that!

Especially since most of us are Indie authors, we have the unique opportunity to make character/storyline choices that would be nixed by mainstream heteropatriarchal publishers, on the basis that it "wouldn't sell." Diverse books are very important, because they demonstrate how to maintain and articulate cultural differences without going to war over them.

this is true. thats not to say there is anything wrong with Eurocentric characters, as long as they're not the only ones.

Im not published yet, but what i will say is that i don't think i could ever write anything where different cultures and subcultures weren't intertwined or encountering one another. Excuse my grammar =p But I don't think anyone has the luxury of only being around one type of people.
