Hello All,

I just joined this group and hope you don't mind my jumping in to introduce myself. My first book, LIFE IS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE, was published a few years ago, is available both as paperback and e-book. My second, literary fiction, THE WOODEN CHAIR, is slated for publication in May 2013. This is the story of Leini from the age of five in war torn Finland, living with an abusive mother. As the story progresses, mother's abuse turns from physical to emotional neglect with touches of Munchausen by proxy.
Child abuse, particularly abuse of girls so so prevalent, but not talked about enough in literature, I think. Having said all this, I'll not plug my book any more, but share in the discussion.
