It was beautiful, and deeply satisfying. I think it is the first time a coda is set so long after the actual story (20 years later). I liked also this detail.
Thank you, dear Josh!

I liked the banter among them, they are just like in the book. And obviously I'm delighted that Leonard didn't succumb to the lure of Hollywood.
I laughed and kissed him. He closed his eyes and kissed me back, and the oranges and almonds rained down around our feet.
I liked this bit, but I need an information:
Leonard brought a palm tree and bags of oranges and almonds. The palm tree is clear, but are also oranges and almonds a typical thing to bring back from California, or are they typical in general for Christmas?

I liked the banter among them, they are just like in the book. And obviously I'm delighted that Leonard didn't ..."
I don't know about the rest of California, but we have almond orchards everywhere.
And the oranges are all ready to be picked now, so citrus for Christmas is a thing.
Here on the east coast, at least in my family, it's tradition to put one orange and one apple in the stocking. Of course, it helps when you remember to bring them with the stockings. My parents bought them from the store where they live and forgot them. First year I know of without them.

Thank you, dear Johanna. Even though I'm not going to colour, I appreciated your work, especially the feather and the silk scarves ;-)

LOL, I thought you guys would appreciate those... I mean, how could we EVER forget that peacock feather and those silk scarves! :-D
Also — I want to point out that there's a vintage angel in Jake's stocking. What can I say? I've always been a Jake fan... ;-)

I was without my orange this year. I totally forgot to buy any. :( One year when I was a teenager and helping my mom fill the stockings, we didn't have enough oranges, so we put a potato in my dad's. :)

My sister and I always received an orange in our stockings. It went back to our parents' Christmases, to the 20s and 30s (well, and even the 50s for that matter) when oranges were more exotic/more of a special treat because fresh fruit wasn't so routinely and quickly shipped from place to place. The trees need a climate where deep freezes are not the norm, unlike Chicago (my mother's childhood home) or New Mexico. Fall/Winter citrus is also common in southern Arizona, like Tucson. My in-laws there have lemons and grapefruit in their yard.
I carry on the tradition and still put fresh fruit in stockings for my adult children and their SO's — an orange or tangerine, a special apple (Black Arkansas is a favorite), a pear, and sometimes a small pomegranate.

I don't think they're typical anymore -- and you probably can't take produce across the state lines -- but back then, yes. They would be exotic delicacies. :-)

We used to get tangerines and almonds when we were little. :-) I think that was the grownups trying to be fancy.

She's spoiling us. Not that I'm complaining, Christmas comes only one time a year after all. ;)

I'm afraid Calathea isn't the only one prone to getting headaches about the constantly increasing number of our topics. :-) Yep, yep. Where're my painkillers...?

Thank you, Josh (and Johanna)!
''Make the Yuletide gay'' is part of the lyrics! I'read quite a few references/wordplays with this, but I didn't know that this is part of an actual song.
