Antonella | 11565 comments share a memory of your grandparents (or a great-aunt or a great-uncle) -- and if it's a holiday memory, so much the better!

((Hi, Josh! I did try again to post on the blog, but it really doesn't work. So I post here my comment. I'm not participating to the draw, but thank you for your generosity))

I always missed to have grandparents. I only knew my mother's father and he died when I was 6 years old.

You probably already heard this, but a fond memory is that on Sunday afternoon he used to take me to a local garden restaurant. I would get a sandwich with plenty of salami and a lemonade (gazzosa). I was allowed to get some drops of his red wine so that the lemonade it would become pink.

I love the coda. What I hadn't anticipated was that I might get "scooped" by any particular coda. So that's...an interesting feeling. :-D

Today's delightful AC offering is by our own dear Calathea!

https://joshlanyon.blogspot.com/2016/...

(One of the best parts of this year's calendar participation is how everyone is choosing different stories and characters -- and it's completely natural. No planning was involved.)

Truly delightful and witty. Thank you, dear Calathea!

I also liked very much your colouring of Johanna's great drawing.

This one was so much fun to read! So clever! Well done, Calathea!

(And I'm so honored that you're using the coloring picture as illustration with this delightful snippet! I love seeing that you've actually colored the JL coloring book pictures.)

By the way, a funny memory of the mouse I drew on the coloring picture illustrating Calathea's coda — when I had finished drawing the mouse, hubby commented that it looked too much like a rat. *sigh*

But Josh — who is ALWAYS extremely supportive and generous, as you all know — comforted me by saying that (and I hope it's alright if I quote): "I think the mouse is appropriately and adorably mousy even if his first cousin on his mother's side is a rat". LOL! Now THAT is a true friend speaking... :-D :-D :-D

Every single one of the contributions this year has been first class. It's probably the first year I've had as much opening the calendar as everyone else. :-D

Thank you for reminding us that Murder in the Closet is already out, Jordan! I just purchased it. :-)

Josh's essay is about Joseph Hansen's writing and specifically about Hansen's Known Homosexual book — and about its journey to Pretty Boy Dead. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Josh! I haven't read the article yet. I'm saving it for later this evening!)
