Mtsnow13 | 1115 comments I love the acoustic guitar and the way the rhythm comes in to create drama. And the impact of the blood around the 'type' is fascinating. It takes a special talent to get that kind of timing, and software like Garage Band makes things like this accessible for anyone that has a good ear for music and visuals. They will do a great job with Fair Play, I am sure, and I look forward to the outcome.

I agree. They're very good. I've been trying to persuade them to go into the book trailer biz for a while. :-)

HJ | 3603 comments I read a number of comments on the trailer in different places, all positive, and mostly mentioning the music as being perfect for it.

ACK. I keep forgetting to check back.

I'm writing and so this launch is getting short shrift. I think I've checked my sales all of twice! That must mean something. I was startled to see how many reviews I had. And here I'm always so cynical about a bunch of reviews showing up right away! :-D

Your reviews are doing well, over 20 earlier today, and mostly 5 stars on Amazon, you were #1 in mystery for a few days, now you are #2, and you are still in the top 10 in your three categories. Highest ranking I saw was 771, and now it's dropped a bit to 890.

I have checked on your book every day about twice a day. You would think I'm personally invested or something. LOL!

LOL. I like that you're feeling invested. ;-)

It really does help having the push of a publisher behind me for this one.

I've finished Everything I Know so that will be coming out in a few weeks. I think I may just jump right into Tattoo Boy now since I could probably do with some lighter subject matter. :-D

Yes, I think the noir story is a bit too dark coming on top of SotS and Everything I Know. I need some laughs before I get back Fair Play and serial killers. :-D

Cool blog. I tried to post my thoughts there, but for some reason, I'm never able to do so. Therefore, I'll post them here.

***************************************************************************************************

It's funny that you wrote about this today. I have been obsessed with the turmoil in Ukraine lately, and I just read an article on Slate.com about Odessa. Apparently, there was an old movie, Battleship Potemkin, that allegedly celebrated the Russian Revolution, that was supposed to be a memorialization of some aspect of the Russian Revolution, but it was largely a fabrication (it was set in Odessa). So, to the extent that our memories are us, it is interesting to think about the way that "the powers-that-be" declare that constructed memories will form the corpus of the political "us." I suppose one can only hope that people who live in societies like this, and who value historical integrity, will one day have access to accurate records and can restore a truthful rendering of what actually happened for the benefit of future generations. Memory is tricky enough without politicians manipulating it to suit their needs.

That's interesting. One of the interesting things about The Mexican Suitcase was the story about Capo's partner Gerda Taro. She died during the war, and the official story is that it was an accident -- which is terrible enough. But later I read theories that the Stalinists might have had her killed because she refused to photograph anything but the truth.

That was depressing.

Not everyone feels the same though, and I think it is a good reminder to be more cagey about what is upcoming rather than tease people with promises of stuff that will eventually show up but at some unknown date.
