They are great, aren't they? I was impressed by the number of really good ones.

It's so interesting to see what everyone chooses. Sometimes the choices line up with my own picks, but not always.

Thanks for posting these!

I agree, I loved the typewriter one, but it was still a close call with some of the others for that title too. *sigh* lol. I do like all the winners though, and I'm really glad some of the others will be used for other projects! Congrats guys!

That was just WAY harder than I anticipated. I'm excited though because I'm going to have some completely original (and beautiful art) for these upcoming projects.

Johanna, congrats! Such absolutely lovely covers! I'm so glad Josh is keeping the one with the scarf for Christmas, it's perfect for it! And i really loved the ones for the historical collection, the one with the park was my favorite :-)

The colors in the park one were ravishing. Blue and orange. Stroke of genius.

Johanna - what she said!! I love the guy with the scarf; makes me feel all wintry with his lovely eyes. And your beautiful yellow ochre (? I think?) one for "What's Left of Kisses"; my favourite.

Today has been much better than yesterday. I still cough a lot and get tired very easily, but my voice sounds better — although it's still pretty sexy, like I'd drank a lot of whisky and smoked a few packs of cigarettes. Hey, I've turned into Dave Brandstetter!!! ;-)

Thank you for posting the links, dear!
It was so difficult to decide on only one entry in each category. All those pictures are beautiful. I found it very interesting to see how different some of the results were although based on the same prompt, and then again the similarities that came through.

And what a wonderful idea, Josh, to use some of them for future projects. I hope that there will be some cover commisions in the artists' future like you suggested. :-)

Congrats and hugs to you, Johanna, for your winning entries! (And thanks for putting all the others in one place on Pinterest so we can admire them like they deserve. ^^)

I really like that one. Brilliant idea, very elegant, yet suitably rugged cover. Extremely nicely done with just a few, simple elements. Loved it.

Congratulation for winning and in general for your art.

There are so many of your works ''talking'' to me. And I got all choked up - again - looking at the photoshopped picture for CUTYS where also the list of the 10 most beautiful words is, but with Swift's addition of ''time''.

And take care of yourself!

You guys are being so awfully nice about this that I feel quite embarrassed. ;-)

The truth is that there were so many wonderful covers from people who actually know what they are doing and it really showed! :-) I've never designed a book cover before and dived into the whole thing like I tend to do with everything new and exciting — with huge amount of enthusiasm and feeling, and not so much reason. ;-) Next time when I have an opportunity to participate in something similar, I probably know a little more about these things. Such a great learning experience, this was.

This means so much to me, Antonella. Thank you.

I absolutely love the way Josh used that list of beautiful words in Swift's story. With the word "Time" it always gets me choked up. Oh God, now I want to start listening to CUTYS again... :-)

But this is what everyone does. Everyone starts by trying for the first time. :-) I think your covers are wonderful.

I think *all* the covers were wonderful -- the very idea that so many people generously contributed time and energy and talent to this little contest is humbling.

I love how a cover really changes the meaning to me about a book. I once was writing something about procrastination and obsession. I love the shot in the dark one.

Thank you for your votes, dear. :-) One thing I found truly surprising was that quite a few (same) people commented on my covers in more than one thread (like you did, Alison). And I think the other contestants must have noticed the same thing about their own covers and the people liking them. So there must be something similar to all of the covers made by the same person. A mood? Some sort of touch? For example Catherine Dair's covers seem to me well structured and spot on. And KB Smith manages to make great, distinct covers with just a few simple elements and a brilliant idea. :-)

"Here's to Karen. Today's color is officially green and this drink comes with silver flakes. Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!"

Well, I finally deserve that lovely green drink Johanna posted, and all of your kind words and congratulations! Because the funny thing was that I was posting to commiserate with Josh's blog post on how difficult writing can be — even when, like me, you're just trying to write a description of the six-lesson "instructional unit" (don't you just love academic gibberish?) you taught. But I my post (my writing) wasn't clear that I wasn't actually done.

So today I am. Done or done in. Dossier resubmitted and paid for. For better or worse. If this one's not OK, I guess it's time to seek yet another career... one that has nothing to do with writing I hope. ; D

Thanks everyone!

I'm happy for you, dear. Mission accomplished — Congratulations! Now go have that drink and the green marmalade candy that comes with it. (ETA: By the way, the green ball shaped marmalade is very traditional Christmas candy in Finland. I think I've taken that photo during the Christmas time a couple of years ago.)
