Yay! Looks like the anthology audio is now available. Also, fantastic interview! He makes narrating sound like a lot of fun. I almost wish I could do that, but reading short stories aloud in speech and debate competitions in college taught me that it wouldn't work out. Ah well.

Thank you, grat interview!

And BTW I'm glad you didn't select him for The Adrien English series. Not because he wouldn't be good, but because already now when you talk about ''Adrian'' I need a moment to notice the ''a'' and to process what you are talking about ;-).

I won a prize from the Kick Start Blog Tour! Two ebooks from Josh's backlist! But since I already have all of Josh's books, some in multiple formats (just like a lot of you here), I'd like to offer them to someone else on Q&A whose collection isn't quite complete. So first response here or PM to me is a winner! Well, assuming that's OK with everyone in charge. ;-)

Wow, you're a very kind person. =) I would like to, but I didn't take part in the Blog Tour so it would be unfair.

Karen, since you already have them, can I offer you something else? Audio book? New unreleased book?

I even have all of your audio books. (They don't call us Fanyonatics for nothin'.) That would be very, very nice. I'm happy to wait for a new release. Thank you!

So! The interview with Kit and JX will be pushed back until next weekend since I'd forgotten LB and I were running this audio book giveaway promo.

Plus we'll be out of codas by then and it will be a nice way to wrap it all up. ;-)

So, as I mentioned on your blog, I didn't get The Dickens audiobook cover until I saw LB'S Simple Gifts cover. The scene with Jason's origami installation is so charming and touching. What a great choice to highlight.

Salsera1974 | 143 comments Hey Josh -- I just saw your blog post, and I thought it was really great. In particular, I thought the advice was super useful even for non-fiction writers, like academic writers. Write your best work, write frequently, know and interact regularly with your audience, and have realistic expectations. It's simple advice, even if it's hard to do, and it's kind of neat how the same advice holds across different writing arenas.

Thank you, Hj, for posting the link!

message 740: by Salsera1974 (new)

Salsera1974 | 143 comments Hi Josh --

For some reason, I have a hard time posting on your blog, so I'll give you my thoughts here. I like your plans, but here are my two cents, for whatever they're worth. I've really, really missed your historicals. I'm thrilled that you think you can push out Ill Met by Moonlight, because I've been very excited about that project for some time, and I've been waiting so patiently for it -- the coda for This Rough Magic was my favorite, and I say this as a dedicated Adrien and Jake fan. The last line hit me square in the gut, and I have GOT to know what is happening with Brett and Rafferty.

And though you didn't make any promises on this one at all, the sequel to Snowball in Hell would be one heck of a Christmas gift. (Hint hint!) I really love that era, and would very much like to know how Nathan and Matthew are going to work things out.

Beyond the historicals, I'm far more interested in The Haunted Heart: Spring (more so than I am in a follow-up to the Mummy Dearest series), but other readers may feel differently on that score.

Anyway, that's it! Thanks for listening!

Salsera1974 | 143 comments Okay, I didn't say that your list of projects for the year sounds really interesting and fun because that goes without saying in my head! I just answered the call for an opinion (and as is my way, gave it in far too much detail!). Anyway, even though I clearly have my very specific preferences, I echo the encouragement that I often give my personal friends (but neglected to give to you, which failure I regret): do you. I will end up reading whatever you write anyway. :-)

What I think is especially useful about hearing from readers is you start thinking...hmmm as much as I want to write that, is there really any interest in it?

Especially when it comes to historical, which just doesn't sell in any significant way. You do historical for the love of the genre. But it sells a fraction of what contemporary does.

So it's really good to know there is interest and affection for the characters.

message 750: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 204 comments Oh, I LOVE the historicals! Figures. I always love things that are out of the mainstream.
