Kimberly Brown | 6 comments I'm new to the group and to goodreads so I'm still figuring things out. Any help would be appreciated

Barb | 1192 comments As far as I know, it's not possible to make that a permanent setting. But you can change it every time you open a discussion thread: At the top of the page, in the right-hand corner, click on date, and it should put the newest posts at the top of the thread. I *think you have to do that every time you open a new discussion.

If you've read a disussion thread before, there will be a red number behind it with something liike (3). If you click on the red number, it'll take you directly to the newest posts.

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) When I join a new group I open discussions and mark all as read. Then all the new ones pop up. I get an email for a while with discussions for that day.

You can also open discussions and read new ones.

For some reason, that doesn't work for me - every time I have tried it I get a random place in the discussion (like message 128 of 500). I do what Barb suggests & you only have to it for one discussion and all the rest will be most recent first on the website… If you use the mobile app, you have to do it with each thread :(

I do this as well, but again it only works on the website, not possible to do one the mobile app! In fact, if you do this on the website, the mobile app still thinks those topics are unread :(

Yes, I navigate GRs via my home computer. I have it on my phone but only use the GRs app to search my books so I don't buy a duplicate book while out.

On my iPod Touch app, there is an arrow at the top right which if I click on it sorts the comments to most recent first. You have to click it for each topic you open.

On my Kindle Fire app (Android app), this function is hidden in the menu - open the discussion, then open the menu and you should see an option that says something like "Show newest comments first".

Hope that helps.

Melissa | 324 comments I will have to try that suggestion, I use the android app a lot and have pretty much stopped looking at the discussions as there can sometimes be 200 posts to scroll through.
