Grrrrr. I'm terribly terribly sorry for dropping from groodread's surface like that - RL decided randomly to get busy. Insanely busy.I'm doing next year my Abitur (Finals? Something like that.) and had the oral part last month. I definitly underestimated how much time that would take.
Plut, there were the last-weeks-before-grades-are-due-crazyness and generel crazyness and stuff. You get the picture... Yeah
I would have read you mail earlier, Rebecca, if I would have been able to log in to goodreads. Unfortunately, there was not enough time.

Would it be alright if I run around the august-spreadsheet and Team Leader Board Of The Week again? Something else anyone would like me to do?
Sure!! I made the spreadsheet already but it's accessable and everyone can edit it.I'll be gone August 4-11 at the beach so I won't be able to update anything during that time. I think Nancy is doing the Sunday Updates so I think we're covered with everything.

There are been much confusion and deliberation/revision of the Mods' September challenge, but they did a great job in their thread of setting it up and explaining it.I'm going to make a September BAP Thread here, so our players can look over the challenge, plan, ask questions etc. before September gets here (sooner than I thought) :)
Thanks Rebecca! I haven't been on much and probably won't be. Went into school today to see my classroom. Will be spending the next few weeks in the classroom prepping and planning.

Hey captains. During the SU, the Mods suggested that we nicely suggest to Tricia and possibly others to lower their goals. We don't have to do this, but I wanted to bring it up here so we can decide what to do.
Maybe a quick message to people who aren't too far on with their goals to see if there's a reason - perhaps people being away over summer etc. If there's no specific reason then maybe suggest it?Or we could send a message to everyone to make sure they're happy with their goals and on target. Ask if anyone wants to raise/lower their target?
Yeah I was thinking of sending a message to those people who the Mods have calculated are significantly below their goal. Just telling them were update the spreadsheet and wanted to know if they want to make a goal adjustment. It's hard to tell what your yearly goal should be at the beginning cause life is always busy :)
I agree that we should contact Tricia and ask the team as a whole if everyone feels like they are on target.
Something like this??As we are entering our 6th month of this challenge (I absolutely cannot believe it's been this long!) our team is doing an awesome job in the competition!! We are chipping away at our goal at a great pace and hopefully will continue for the next couple months.
We captains just wanted to check in and see if everyone is happy with the goals they set over 6 months ago. We know real life can get in the way and hopefully people are finding time to read and enjoy themselves. That being said, we wanted to check in and give everyone the opportunity to look at their goals and progress and let us know if they want to make a change. We don't want to pressure you into anything, but if you want to make a change, we are more than happy to help!

Rebecca - That looks great! I'm not sure how many of our team members are participating in the September challenge, which may affect them per post #342....which I basically understand as by changing the goal it hurts our team.

Only goals going up... NOT down. I don't know if "hurt" is the right word, if someone raises their goal, but it definitely will make you all work harder.
Nancy - we could always ask them to change the goal as of the end of the month if we anticipate this to be a problem.
Agree with Rebecca. That should work ok. Or else just hold off sending the message until the end of Sept.
I think waiting until the end of September is a good idea. That way people may know more about how much free time they'll have in the fall. I know different seasons can be pretty hectic for people.
Sounds good.....and at this point I can't even think about the Oct. challenge! Though we should prob start planning that one!
I've just had a look at that. May be worth doing both - more chance for points seeing as the same books can be used for both options. What does anyone else think?
Looks like we have a new team member which is awesome! That should really help with our team goal! :)Does anyone want to "head" the October read-a-thon? I definitely want to participate but with school, work and moving/unpacking I don't know how much time I'll have online.
My timings in October should be ok at the moment... at the moment I'm meant to be away 14th/15th although really only 14th I wouldn't be able to get online

Yeah I'm happy enough. Looking like we'll just end up doing the reading like a banshee. Would you get a chance to start a spreadsheet - just so much as a title and I can add the rest. I don't use google spreadsheets... If it's not handy I'll have a look over the next day or so at starting one.
I don't mind helping out w/ this challenge. However real like is looking pretty busy for Oct. so Vikki let me know if/what you need help with!

Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question and have missed this out somewhere but has anyone heard from Jodi or Hope lately - noticed on the main spreadsheet the last book read are both in August.
I was wondering the same thing. I know a while ago Jodi said she was getting surgery and was going to be recovering for a while, but haven't heard since.Not sure if there's been any word from Hope.
Haven't heard anything from either of them. Don't know if they've been active or not. I remember Rebecca mentioning Jodi's surgery. I can try to e-mail them tomorrow.

I've sent Reed a message as there's been no pages updated for read-a-thon and tomorrow's last day we can add/remove participants. If he's not taking part then it'll effect our ratio if we're still counting his target. I've asked him to reply in the topic here as I'm away - can someone keep an eye for this.Thanks
The Mods are not having an"official" challenge for November (aka those that win extra points). BUT I was thinking maybe we could have a fun Fall themed challenge, because it seems like those really motivate the team to read.If you guys think this is a good idea, I'll ask the team members if they would wanna participate in this if we made one. I can look around GR for some good Fall Challenge ideas.
Oh yes I understand how hard it is not to have good access to GR!!! Luckily, I'm back up with a new laptop!
