Heather Is anyone else confused by the time frames in Clockwork Princess and City of Lost Souls? The Clockwork Princess Epilogue takes place in 2008 and yet in the City of Lost Souls book which I thought was taking place currently Jem is still a Silent Brother? I haven't read City of Lost Souls since it was released so maybe I'm just missing something.

Auhmanduh Yea, I was confused about that as well. however, im hoping that when the next book comes out it can all be "smoothed over".

Lena Im pretty sure the epilogue takes place AFTER CoLS and probably CoHF too

Esme yeah i think it takes place after all the mortal instrument books (i.e city of heavenly fire) because city of bones (i think, if i remember correctly) is set in 2007/2008

Hannah I'm pretty sure Cassie said the entire TMI series takes place in less than a year (2007) so since the epilogue of CP2 is set in 2008, that means it happens after the events of TMI, so possibly the story of finding Jem's cure would be included in CoHF.

Olivia Quinn TMI takes place in 2007 and the epilogue in CP2 is set in 2008!

Fiona Curtis So how it works is that whatever occurs in City-Of-Heavenly-Fire results in Jem becoming mortal.
Clockwork Princess (epilogue) occurs just after whatever drama happens in Heavenly-Fire.
My theory is that Magnus figures out a way to make Alec immortal by giving him Jem's immortality?

Silent Brothers aren't immortal though, they just age really slowly. Thats why when Tessa sees Jem on the bridge he looks older than she remembers. Hopefully they can make Tessa mortal too.

They can't make Tessa mortal. They would have to remove her demon side and then she would die. Maybe Clary can make Jem immortal in the next TMI book.

Heather Thanks for the clarification everyone! With a year in between each of these books and switching back and forth from one series to another I really should have went back and re-read TMI before Clockwork Princess came out.

Darkphoenix I hope that Tessa doesn't have to watch Jem get old and die. Watching Will slowly wither away was bad enough :(
Immortality for Jem!!!

Darkphoenix Besides I really want Tessa to have a true happy ending and not one that eventually ends in loss :(

Kellani Tessa should just... stop being immortal. Period. No matter what :3

Or maybe she'll just go off and end her existence after Jem dies. Then she can be with her two loves forever.

Janhavi♥herondale City of Bones was in 2007 and the whole TMI series was just a couple months and CP2 epilogue was in 2008 so the epilogue must be after the whole TMI including CoHF

My theory is that he wants the book of white to find a way for himself to become mortal. Maybe Tessa will too so she can live and grow old with Jem.

Lyndsey-ellen Anoif is almost entirely right. The events that unsilent brother him (couldn't think of a better way to put it) happen in the middle of COHF. We get to see what happens to Tessa and Jem after their meeting.

Amberrlaurenn i knew that
