Caught train to work this morning in Clacton, told service would be reduced from 6.00pm because of threatened storms and no service tomorrow morning until 10.00am. Happy Christmas commuters , NOT.Have to drive in to work tomorrow. But off then till 2nd January, weather can do what it wants, if it can make up its mind.
East of England ravaged by storms and rain last night. Threat of more to come by end of week bringing danger of more floods.
Please stay safe and drive carefully everyone

No White Christmas in my part of Oregon. Not necessarily a bad thing. While I like snow, I hate driving in it or on it. If only it would miss the roads...

Agreed. Stay safe everyone.
It will be 80 here in LA tomorrow. I would have preferred the 60's but I don't control the weather.
:-)
-8C in Toronto. The ice storm has passed and now fluffy snowflakes are coming down. Everything here looks so magical, but many still are without power. Ours is back on. We lost it early Sunday morning. Got so cold we had to check into a motel last night when the city issued a cold alert. So good to be home!
I got to 84f here in my area of LA today! Ridiculous. Even the beaches were close to, or over just over 80.
Still very warm. No rain in sight here in LA. High 70s for the next week. Wish it would rain we REALLY need. We have had less than 5 inches of rain this year.
Still chilly. But there's sky!!! Blue Sky!!! There's still something up there. We've had freezing fog since the day after Christmas!! I was beginning to think about that Outer Limits (or was it the Twilight Zone) episode where aliens kidnap an entire city block...

Still very warm right now here in LA. Though, there are people in toques walking around outside. Really don't get it.
The Uk has plenty to spare, more floods threatened over the next few days. You are welcome to import the rain if you wish.i>Leigh wrote: "Still no rain. 80 here in LA today. Seriously. WE NEED RAIN."
Hoping for sun today. Feeling sorry for my brother and his fiance who live in Boston. My sympathies for anyone stuck in the monster storm back east. STAY SAFE!

If I could, I would. Thanks for the offer. :-)
St. Louis, Missouri: Current temp. - 21F. Wind chill is supposed to get down to 0 to -10 degrees this afternoon. We already have several inches of snow with more falling.
We're at 30 F -- a definite heat wave compared to what we've been seeing in Maine. This is the kind of day people try to get outside.
Cold, clear and brilliant sunshine in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.Well, not as cold today, 50F, as yesterday...
Sunny and cold in Fort Worth, Texas 19F or -7C.People moved to Texas to get away from this kind of weather, at least there is only a few days of winter a year.
St. Louis, Missouri: -7F; wind chill -33F 10+ inches of snow in the areaWe just got back from a trip to Colorado on Friday. There's more snow here, and it's much colder here than it was there!
Rainy and foggy ,54F in Massachusetts, tomorrow it will only be in the teens, these temperature changes are terrible

I had a car when I left Iowa and got to Texas. It froze up in a Dallas, Texas winter. Something that it did not do in 2 Iowa winters.
Go figure...
It is -13F here, with very strong winds. It has been well below zero for several days, then we had one day of much warmer temperatures, which then resulted in freezing rain, and very dangerous roads, sidewalks etc, and more power losses. Then today, back to snow and very cold temp. Just east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. All part of the polar vortex sweeping down from the Canadian far north.
Here in La today(at least in my side of town--we have 16 micro-climates according to Dallas Raines) it was 77F/25C. WE REALLY REALLY need some rain.
Daisy wrote: "-33F in Chicago"Now, that's cold. And, with the wind off the lake, wonder what the wind chill factor is. Or, did this include that?
It's supposed to be -11 but feels like -33. Which is actually better than earlier it was -45. Hope you guys are in warmer states.
Serious question: How many layers do you wear when it gets that cold? I have one warm coat - a pea coat, a couple of hoodies, and a faux leather jacket and that's it. We had a cold snap (apologies to those actually experience REAL COLD) and I had to go dig up my coat. Most of the time I can go out in my shirt sleeves, or at worst throw on an extra t-shirt. I cannot imagine how many layers you would have to put on just to walk out your door.
Everybody stay safe. Don't go out unless you have to. Make sure all your skin is covered. We're so glad we're outside the polar freeze. It's still chilly here - 20s at night and low 30s during the day. Don't envy you guys. You know it's bad when it's too cold for Minnesotans.
Here in Denmark we usually have low temperatures, snow and sun. This year there´s no snow, minus-degrees or sun... Only lots of wind, clouds and rain:-)
What is with the wind this past year? It seems like that's the only thing that's been consistent, is a lot of windy days.
Here in Essex still receiving lots of rain. Asd the train passed through Chelmsford this morning saw the River Chelmer which was close to breaking its banks. Remember years ago shopping in Chelmsford when the river broke its banks, had to carry my 6 year old daughter on my back as we made our way back to the car which was on the other side of the river. Up to my knees in running water most of the way. The other half was holding tight to our son's hand. We were all cold and wet when we reached the car, which fortunately was above the water line. Was a challenge driving home though.
