Weather: What's the Weather Like in Your Corner of the World?
In Long Island, NY it's cold, grey and some rain at times. It's just one of those days that you just want to stay in bed with a good book.

A good book, a fire, and a warm drink -- not to mention my two dogs. (You know it's cold when they can only go out long enough to take care of the call of nature!)

I was in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the Thanksgiving weekend and, as you know, all was well. I live in the Seattle area which was not having really good weather at the time. I left on Monday and my girlfriend sent me a picture on Tuesday of her cat in the snow! She accuses me of sending the bad weather down. Just to let you know, we don't have the snow but you got us back on the temps!!

Hello Linda,
Glad you made it back home before the hundreds of weather delays and cancellations happened at the airport. It's 34 F and the temperature is expected to get as low as 25 F again tonight. I'm looking forward to getting back to our milder North Texas winter.
Still really cold here in LA. It was in the 50's today and will be in the 30's tonight. Really cold!!
Leigh wrote: "Still really cold here in LA. It was in the 50's today and will be in the 30's tonight. Really cold!!"50s??? Oh, better watch out for the frostbite!!! (some sarcasm used) It's 15F here and supposed to get up to 32F here in eastern Washington - and we're one of the warmer places in the Lower 48.
Snowing here in Connecticut, but not too bad yet - I think we're supposed to get 2 - 5 inches of snow by nightfall. In my day (uh oh, here it comes) they didn't cancel schools unless there was a blizzard. Today, if there is a threat of snow, they close schools (no comments about how I had to walk barefoot)...LOL.

He remembered walking to school in snowshoes... though I don't know if I believe it -- he grew up in Oakland!
The really cold weather, cold for Oregon Willamette Valley, seems to have gone away. Got down into the 'teens for the last few days. Had water pipes freeze but didn't lose water for any appreciable length of time. But, now, it's way back up in the 20's and the frigid cold is gone. None to soon for my tastes.
It's winters like this that remind me why I no longer live in the mid-west. Iowa was my home for many years, but, now Oregon is home.

Sarcasm accepted. :-)In my defense, I am born and raised in Southern California. I experience cold snaps every 3-5 years. I have 1 warm coat that I got maybe 5 years ago and have worn maybe 10 times.
So when it actually gets cold it is kind of surprising. People who live in colder climates are made of stronger stuff.
What is cold to some, is luke warm to others. I was born and raised in Iowa. Days on end, in wintertime, it would get to below 0 degrees F. That was cold! But, when I moved to Arizona, I laughed at people who were wearing winter coats when it got anywhere near 30 degrees. I was in shirtsleeves. But, after a year of living there, the next winter, I was one of those wearing winter coats. I was told that one's blood thins out with all the warmer weather. Not sure if that's it, but, that 2nd winter sure did seem a lot more chilly than that 1st year had seemed.
Now, living in Oregon which is somewhere between those two extremes, weatherwise. It had been cold here, down into the 'teens last weekend. But, now, it's up to 26 today. Not warm, but, not as cold as hit had been.
It's warming up today -- it's supposed to get up above freezing today, maybe into 40s next week. Yoo-hoo!!!
Low 80s here today.I was just looking at some pictures of people places where it snows. I am convinced that I would sleep straight through winter. Seriously.
Grew up in rural Derbyshire. Had to catch the bus to the Infant school in the next village. In winter we would walk the 10 miles across the moors to school. They never closed. Struggled to get bread, but would always have milk, eggs, bacon, etc from the local farms. Can still taste those fresh eggs.Kids have it easty these days.

I'm currently in north Derbyshire and it's beginning to get windy with rain forecast later, even the possibility of snow tomorrow. We live in a village halfway up a ridiculously steep hill and always get cut off when it snows!
a little coolish, a little damp, a little breezy in south Florida. It has been a remarkably stable year weatherwise. No hurricanes, thank God!
21 degrees, plenty of snow on the ground, and I think the forecast is calling for messy weather on Friday. That's in Southern Maine.
Had a 20 degree temperature drop today a we might get rain tomorrow. We really need it, we have only had about 5 inches of rain this entire year.

Los Angeles
Its cold and some of the snow turned to ice because of the rain we got but they said that it suppose to get alittle warm. In the 50's.
Last night in north east Essex, heavy winds and heavy rain. This morning a claer cold sky, 3 C, not quite freezing.
I'm enjoying reading these, but wonder if people can remember to put where they're located. If you're afraid of giving your location, maybe the general area? Even if you've mentioned it and are posting again, it's hard to keep track. Thanks
Relatively warm in Southern Maine today 32 degrees with 8 miles an hour of wind. If the chick on the phone can tell us that much, then I don't know why she can't tell us how cold it actually feels with the wind chill factor. It feels like 24, with temperature gradually dropping into tomorrow morning. Rain expected (which can make for some messy driving/walking conditions with all this snow), later turning to freezing rain./ Slippery, and we have errands that must be done.
Bright and sunny but a little chilly - 37F. Glad we got rid of that arctic chill that we had last week. Too cold for me!
Here in LA today the temps dropped to the 50s!!! It was in the 80s earlier in the week? It was really nice though, it was grey and rainy all day.
A bleak, wet and windy night last night. This morning a cold 1 c. Car covered in frost. Tomotrrow the shortest day what fun. Last day to do Christmas shopping as well. Ho joy.
To cold and rainy to go walking for exercise here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Not as cold as last week, but, still, cold and rainy. Maybe tomorrow...
2 1/2 inches of snow this morning in Snohomish county state of Wa.Cannot get out of the steep driveway.
Not suppose to last but we are about 300 feet.
It's actually warm. I thought we were in for a bit of a mixture, but that didn't happen. So the snow's on the ground, but it's not unbearably cold in Southern Maine.

Hello, Kay. I'm in the DFW area (Cedar Hill, Texas). It's 32 F now so I'm hoping enough ice will melt so I can get out tomorrow. I've been iced in since Dec. 6 and getting cabin fever.
