It's mostly silly, but there are some good points about how society smothers creativity and individuality. For example, the school colors are gray and dark gray. The library only has one book left in it because all the others have been banned. I really enjoyed these books, and the funny thing is the Captain Underpants books are the most hotly contested on banned books lists around the country.
