Speculative vs Science Fiction

What is the difference between Speculative and science fiction. Can stories have a combination of both? Anyone feel free to post here an example of either or both.
What would be some famous examples of speculative?

As I understand it, 'Speculative' fiction is a pretty huge grab-bag, and would include science fiction, fantasy, horror... I think all a fiction story needs to be considered 'speculative' is some kind of outlandish element.

I think it could be useful if a story you were writing (that contained something fantastical) fell outside of (or in-between) more conventional genres.
