Who has read this book? If not, you should! It's the first Nancy Drew book so everyone Nancy Drew fan should read this one :-) I read it a long while ago and remember enjoying it somewhat but preferring some of the other books. Perhaps I should give this one another try. :-)

Ann♥♪♪♪♪ (musicisablessing) | 82 comments I've read it and like it! :) I also would like to read the original sometime and compare it. :)

Oh you're right! I forgot that the yellow cover books aren't the originals, ha ha! :-) Yes, I agree, I want to read the original first book, too. I hope it's even better :-D

Ashlee (ashlee_) | 43 comments I read it and LOVED it!!

Yep, it'd be fun to compare the two. :) I've only read the newer ones, but it's possible to find the originals in used bookstores around, in varying conditions (along with varying prices). Also there are the Applewood facsimile editions - some of them are still in print, but you might find a better price for used Applewood books or maybe even the originals! :)

Cool! :D I love figuring out the mystery in the books so I like the ones where the writers let Nancy sleuth a lot. :D

What's your favorite part in the book, Charmaine and Ashlee? :)

It's been such a while since I read this so I don't remember how the mystery got solved, and I can't say what part I liked. XD Once I read the original I will let you know what I think. One of the libraries I go to has some of the older editions. :-)

Which part did you like, Ann?

I look forward to finding out about the comparison between the two and what you think when you read them! That's great that you can maybe get them from one of your libraries! :) I need to read the original, too. :D

Hmmm, I think my favorite part is when she actually found "the secret in the old clock". ;) I always really like when she helps people and the sleuthing, so those all are my favorite parts. :D

Andrea (buttondoll) It has been many many years since I have read this, so I am enjoying the reread. I am about two thirds through, and Nancy is currently locked in the Tophams summer house closet. She is "keeping her wits about her". I am charmed by all of the decades gone by quaintness. Gloves, dressmaker, sales clerks waiting on customers, having things "sent" to you, luncheons, etc. So far, so good....

I love the old-fashioned charm of the books too :-) are you reading the older editions or the more revised ones (the ones with the yellow covers)?

Andrea (buttondoll) The revised with yellow covers, as they are easier to come by. I hope to get some of the older editions, as I come upon them. (Goodwill, used book sales, etc.) How about you?

I've been reading the yellow covers, too :-) one day I'd like to compare that version of Secret of the Old Clock with an older edition! My library has some of the older ones :-)

Ann♥♪♪♪♪ (musicisablessing) | 82 comments The yellow hardcovers are the ones I'm reading, too, but like you guys, I also want to read the older books to compare. :D

That's cool, Ann :-) nice to know that we aren't the only ones interested in the old books :-)

Tara ♪ Yeah. I really liked this book! It's one of my favorites.

I have just finished it the other day. It really is a good book and I enjoyed it. I like the plot... It's neatly written and strongly understandable. (Grammar, wording, paragraphs and quotations). Definitely worth suggesting this book to a friend!
