Jessica | 11 comments I took the suggestion and started reading the alphabet series by Sue Grafton. I am obsessed now absolutely love the main character Kinsey. I am going to feel lost when it is over. I highly suggest it.

Oh, so good to know because that is one I can't wait to start!!

Julie Fenton | 11 comments I agree with Tammy, James Patterson's book "Unlucky 13 "is a very good book. I had an operation recently and read the book while convalescing.
I am now reading "Vanish" by Tess Gerrritsen. This is the 5 th book in the Rizzoli & Isles thrillers, another very good read

I completely understand - I finished "W" earlier this year and now am going into withdrawal waiting for the next one! It's not supposed to be out until sometime in 2015 though, so guess I need to find another really good series in the meantime. :) I'm thinking of beginning the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich since I've never read any of those. It should hopefully keep me busy until the next Kinsey book is out!

Jessica | 11 comments Can't figure out how to quote you guys on my iPad. But I was and still am obsessed with the Rizzoli and isles book by Tess Geritsen. I am on the 10th book for the James Paterson women's murder club series I need to get on that. I have also read all of the temperance Brennan series which I like but it always seems to follow the same plot line. When I am done with Kinsey and caught up on James Paterson's books I will probably start the Kay Scarpetta series

message 157: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 11 comments Alesha you should start the Sue Grafton series. I can't put them down!!!! I feel like I just started but I am on K already :(.

I really want to start the Kay Scarpetta series! I heard it's good, even though her later books may not be as good as her early ones. I still hear they are good!!

message 159: by Aiesha (new)

Aiesha (bigtexasaj) Currently reading Remember When Remember When (in death #17.5) by Nora Roberts , which is part of the "In Death" series. Love Eve & Roarke, although they aren't in the first part of this book. I'm not in a rush to read this series since there are a gazillion of them but I still really enjoy them!

I'm also listening to Save Yourself Save Yourself by Kelly Braffet , which is a new author for me. It's still very early in the book but so far, so good. Happy reading! :)

I loved these books! Kinsey is cool.

Melissa | 11 comments I am currently reading 2 books. The first one is Love Water Memory (a book from She Reads). I have also started reading Tess Gerritsen's books and am reading Memphisto. I just finished The Sinner and Ice Cold. Both are very good!
I started reading Janet Evanovich's books last year-and made it up to 20 (haven't read it yet).

Melissa | 11 comments Julie wrote: "I'm reading 'The Mephisto club" by Tess Gerritsen, it's her 6th book in the Rizzoli & Isles thrillers"

I am reading her books out of order-and finished this one recently. I've read some good reviews and some iffy reviews but I personally liked it. I like her writing style.

message 172: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 11 comments I finished "A" for Alibi...I love Sue Grafton's writing-so I have to add her to my 'favorite authors' list. Now I'm reading Richard Castle's Frozen Heat, Jodi Picoult's Storyteller and Janet Evanovich's 21. I'm not sure it's a good idea to read 3 at a time, but somehow I'm 6 behind on my goal of '50'.

message 173: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 5 comments I love Sue Grafton's writing also. I have read every one of her books ( to date) in the alphabet series. I liked some better than others- but non was disappointing. Right now I am read "Tears of the Giraffe". a friend suggested Alexander McCall Smith. I am almost done with the book. I love the wise and gentle Mma Ramostswe.

Is she anything like Janet Evanovich?

No, Grafton's Kinsey Milhone mysteries are much more somber and serious than Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. And the Grafton novels only occasionally have Kinsey in some kind of tangled romance, whereas Stephanie is up to her ears in boyfriends.

I am currently reading an old classic that I have never read before: Brat Farrar. I am enjoying it immensely.

message 178: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (finegael) | 11 comments Sue Grafton's books never fail to delight me. I love a heroine that is saavy but vulnerable and does not behave irrationally. What will we do when she reaches the end of the alphabet?

Right now, I am reading Bones of the Lost (Temperance Brennan #16) by Kathy Reichs Bones of the Lost. I have to say that it is really irritating me. I like the story, but it seems like our heroine has gone off the deep end, doing her own police work. But I'm less than half through it, so perhaps by the end she will be back into forensics. I'll be posting a review when complete.

I have only read the first book. I was afraid to because I didn't want to get hooked on it.

message 180: by Jessica (new)

I have read almost everyone. They are fun and quick reads. In fact, the movie from the first book was on recently.

France (kittyk4att) Hi Msgracie! Both books are BOTM. The Kinsey Millhone folder is here : https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... and the Mary Higgins Clark folder is here : https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... but it's currently empty. If you have read Where Are the Children?, you can start a topic - the first message is always the most difficult one ;)

I didn't know about that series, but now I'm curious. I've never read anything happening in Québec. Do you know if the books were originally written in English?

(As for what I'm reading, I'm at the quarter of Anna Karénina, not exactly a book for the group but I'm enjoying it so far.)

I'm not far enough into the cut & run series yet to give much of an opinion yet but I have loved everything that I have read by Kevin O'Brien. Really creepy mysteries that grab you from page 1. I highly recommend his books.

I just finished this series last week and I think they are great reads. There is a new one due out next month
The Long Way Home (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #10) by Louise Penny which is 10th in the series. I don't think there is translation involved. They must be written in English.

I'm already on reserve for the new one at the library. I think this is a great series but I would say they should be read in order because they refer back to events that occur in previous books.

message 189: by Traci (new)

Traci | 4 comments I recently began reading Random Violence (Jade de Jong, #1) by Jassy Mackenzie , the first book in the Jade de Jong series by Jassy Mackenzie. The books in the series are set in South Africa and Jade de Jong is a private investigator who is from Johannesburg. The book Random Violence is really interesting so far, and I'm planning on reading the other 3 in the series. I'd definitely recommend trying this series if you like thrillers with female PIs, especially if you're looking for something a bit different - the descriptions of South Africa add a lot of interest to the plot.

I read "Truth Stained Lies" last year; really enjoyed it. I will have to look for the next ones in the series.

Currently reading Books, Cooks, and Crooks. It is #3 in her Novel Idea series. The main character works in a literary agency and is in charge of mystery books for their agency. In this installment, their agency is helping to host a conference with several famous chefs who are clients of the literary agency. A very nice cozy.

Kellye | 1 comments Hello.

New to the group but have been on Goodreads for awhile now. I just finished Laura Lippman's Another Thing to Fall, which is the 10th Tess Monaghan book. Wasn't my favorite in the series. I immediately jumped into Elizabeth Little's Dear Daughter, which just came out but was recommended by EW. So far I love the character's voice.
