Samantha Lienhard | 4 comments First, I want to apologize for not having read any of your books yet--one thing is that I'm deathly afraid of spoiling even more of Dark Shadows for myself than I already have! I just started watching the show a little under a year ago, and I absolutely love it!

Now, my questions: first is a Dark Shadows question. Of all the characters you played on the show, who was your favorite?

The second is a more general question. I'm also a writer, but I'm just starting out. I've had some success in getting short stories and novellas published, but none so far with novels. What advice do you have for new writers like me?

Kathryn Scott (kathrynleighscottcom) | 63 comments Hi Samantha
I loved playing both Maggie and Josette, and remember less about portraying Lady Kitty and Rachel Drummond.
The advice I have for you as a writer is to write! That's not a flip response because I really believe we learn more from ourselves than any course can teach. As with any endeavor it requires discipline. Joining a writer's workshop is also an excellent idea... writing is a lonely business and it can be helpful to get feedback from other writers you respect

Stephanie | 171 comments Yes, discipline is one of the keys for sure! To becoming good at anything! Thanks for reinforcing that Kathryn! I've been telling myself here, Kathryn has more discipline in her little finger than I have in my whole body! "Success is 99% perspiration, and 1% inspiration" I forget who says that, but I don't need to forget to apply it to many aspects of my life!

I like your other advice to Samantha too Kathryn. I think I'll borrow some of it if you don't mind!

Thanks for the advice! ^_^

Denise (dulcinea3) | 67 comments Kathryn, I agree that Maggie and Josette were the more memorable characters, but I remember that I really loved Lady Kitty's wardrobe!
