Just finished this book last night. I enjoyed it well enough, but Emily drove me crazy. It was like it wasn't enough that she had a comfortable home life with her uncle who provided her the means to continue at school, but she had to find some reason that he was a bad man. Although, I guess thats's the typical 14-year-old girl for you. I don't agree with the choices Robert and Valentine made to hide the body snatching from Emily. I liked learning more about the conspiracy to assassinate Lincoln and the people who were hanged for it. I appreciate how many real-life people were featured as characters in the book. It was a part of the Civil War I had never read about before. What I would have really liked would have been a novel from Annie's point of view.
Nice to hear your input, Christie! I would like to read this one, soon - it's been on my to-do list for a long time!
