D.G. If the movie is a big success, he will probably regret saying no. :) (Although who knows...maybe he said no because they didn't offer him enough money.)

message 3152: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Perhaps, although he seems more like the 'artistic actor' to me.

I'm starting Spook Squad too!

message 3153: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I really don't see him as Christian Gray. Looking at pics of Charlie I think he can pull it off.

message 3154: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I liked 50 Shades when I read it but now when I think back on it, it wasn't that great. I still haven't read book#3 and I don't think I ever will. Will I see the movie? Probably since so many of my real life friends who don't read often, really liked the series.

I finished reading Dream a Little Dream (Chicago Stars, #4) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips which isn't my favorite by SEP. I also started Seducing Cinderella (Fighting for Love, #1) by Gina L. Maxwell .

message 3155: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Happy Friday everyone!

I finished The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater and I really enjoyed it. I've been is a little reading slump, just don't have enough time to read as much as i'd like to.

message 3156: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Against the Dark (The Associates, #1) by Carolyn Crane It was fun and I liked having a smart guy who could kick butt but ultimately I just found it okay.

message 3157: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Finished Spook Squad (PsyCop, #7) by Jordan Castillo Price , which was a little disappointing to me.

Now onto Bareback (Bareback, #1) by Chris Owen . I need some sexy gay cowboys after the most recent disappointment of PsyCop.

message 3158: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Tellulah I agree completely. The book could have used another round of beta reading and development.

message 3159: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Tellulah wrote: "Read Against the Dark (The Associates, #1) by Carolyn Crane It was fun and I liked having a smart guy who could kick butt but ultimately I just found it okay."

I agree, I think it's a great start to a fun series.

message 3160: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Also agree on Against the Dark.

Finished The Inside Ring, which was OK. Definitely not continuing the series.

Now I'm trying to finish the 3 other books I have going before I start something new.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Accidental Cowgirl is very good. Just saying.

message 3163: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Like Leea I will be reading the next. I still had fun with it.

message 3164: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ian thanks! I found the blue grass one who is her publisher for the wolves one?

message 3165: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Sorry found it! Yay!

message 3166: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments dang blast it...the werewolves one

message 3167: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Regina - can you post the link? I can't find it :(

message 3168: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I will - I did a search for her and that is how I found it. Give me a sec ....

message 3169: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i'm looking now - i found the bluegrass one

message 3170: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments don't worry - found it...if you search her name, the review link shows up...if you search naked werewolf it doesn't...

message 3171: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments http://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.com...

It is weird, it doesn't show up in my requests -- and it was an automatic download for me (I didn't have to request it). Its also not listed in Pocket Books or Pocket Star.

message 3172: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Yes, that is how I found it too.

message 3173: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments yeah...i've had PB and PS as auto-downloads for a while...weird...unless it was a new add and not everything is sync'd yet...I often find Tantor has audiobooks available that aren't listed under their pull-down

message 3174: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I think some releases aren't made public. I'm only guessing here but I think maybe the author has a devoted enough following who will be looking for the books and they figure those reviewers are better for the book than people who are just browsing the catalogues.

message 3175: by Tellulah (last edited Sep 08, 2013 08:02AM) (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Had to DNF The Dimple of Doom (Samantha Lytton, #1) by Lucy Woodhull because I just got bored. I'm wondering if the author is British because even though it's set in LA and the protagonist is supposedly from South Carolina, I think, her way of speaking felt very British to me, if that makes sense.

I did think that Confidence Tricks by Tamara Morgan was a ton of fun though. Heists, kick ass women, fun male lead who aren't totally overbearing, great!

message 3176: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Finished two books Things Good Girls Don't Do by Codi Gary , which was just OK. The author went with tons of cliches, and had lots of fade to black love scenes (also I thought it was going to be new adult but it turned out the heroine was 30.)

I also finished The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton (The Burgundy Club, #3) by Miranda Neville , which had lots of funny scenes. I love how this author used real 18th century smut in the plot!

I'm also listening to Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews but haven't gone too far. I think I need something lighter until the business at work is resolved.

message 3177: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Happy Sunday! So I read a lot this weekend... I basically stayed in the house most of Sat and sunday and read. It was awesome! Finished the Traveling book, it was just okay. Then I read Defiant in the Viking's Bed by Joanna Fulford and it was also good. I didn't realize it was the third in the series when I got the ARC but it's a series I may have to check out.

Now i'm reading Axel (Corps Security, #1) by Harper Sloan - this once caught me by surprise. There is some physical abuse and the way the woman is recovering from it is written is such a natural way. Like she's not just going about her day confident but she has her down days and these wonderful friends to help her out. I'm only to 17% but i'm enjoying the personal interactions so far.

message 3178: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Finished reading Bareback. I intended for this book to be a simple distraction before getting into a buddy read. What I got was a big surprise. This book was so emotional to me. I just loved it and can't wait to read the second one.

message 3179: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Lucky Leea! I barely got to read at all!

message 3180: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments It was a rare moment - trust me:)

I finished Axel (Corps Security, #1) by Harper Sloan and It was really good. The guy was a little too alpha for me, "Mine" a lot but the underline story was riddled with emotion and I really enjoyed reading about Izzy's journey. I need to get the next book Cage (Corps Security, #2) by Harper Sloan

Wendy, when were we going to read the group read? Also, what did we have planned to read next?

Happy Monday everyone :)

message 3181: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I do want to read the Group read! I love old school Nora Roberts.

I can't for a bit though. I'm reading Spook Squad with Regina. Then the next Patrick Ness book More Than This by Patrick Ness will be at my house tomorrow. I am also halfway through Catching Jordan, lmao, and like over a week late to read Girl of Fire and Thorns!

Can we plan on it next week? (I also want to read Magic Rises with you.)

message 3182: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Reading No Place to Run (KGI, #2) by Maya Banks for a buddy read.

message 3183: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Over the weekend I finished The Perfect Match (Blue Heron, #2) by Kristan Higgins that I got from Netgalley. I also started Serendipity (Serendipity, #1) by Carly Phillips .

message 3184: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Catching up, a little at a time!

Finished the first 2 books in the Sorry/Stella Hardesty series. THANK YOU, REGINA! Loving them... even though it's tough for me sometimes to wrap my head around her vigilante justice.

Also finished the latest Pink Carnation book, The Passion of the Purple Plumeria (Pink Carnation, #10) by Lauren Willig . I like the books, the problem is that with the year-gap in publishing, it's tough to get back inside that world. I almost feel like I need a "previously on" summary when I start reading them again.

Started into the Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer book. It's slow-go, but I think it's just me. Although there seems to be a slight disconnect between the first book/short and the start of this one.

Also reading the latest from Diane Mott Davidson, The Whole Enchilada (A Goldy Schulz Culinary Mystery, #17) by Diane Mott Davidson . Goldy remains a fav character of mine, despite the almost "cheat" aspect to the actual mysteries. But I like 'em.

And YES, I'm now working my way through Sons of Anarchy on Amazon Prime - more about that in the TV thread.

BTW, became a Great-Auntie this weekend. My oldest niece finally had her baby boy yesterday evening around 5:30p. It was a tough labor, 'cuz the little one got stuck on her pelvic bone. So glad technology is what it is, because they knew he wasn't in crisis, so they helped ease him out, even though it took that much longer for her to push. Baby and mom are doing well!

message 3185: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lori yay!!! I am so glad you are enjoying it. I agre tough justice is not something I am sympathetic with but I just love Stella and I am able to leave behind my questions concerning it and just enjoy.

message 3186: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I'm going to put a plea out there for one or more of you to read The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1) by Samantha Shannon . I got swept into it and had a tough time getting into it, but once I did, I was hooked.

I'm curious to know if it's just me or if there's something to this series and author. It's a first book, and it's a brand new book. It might be getting hype, I don't know - I just saw it and it looked good.

It's UF, dystopian, paranormal, NA/YA, scifi/fantasy. on. I trust your opinions, and so, I guess I want to know if I fell for hype or if there's something to this.

message 3187: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Congratulatkons!! Sounds like she had a great doctor or midwife!!

message 3188: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic @Lori, Congrats on the new addition to your niece's family! So glad that the delivery worked out and baby and Mom are doing so well!

message 3189: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Congratulations Lori. The great thing about being an auntie / uncle is you always get to be the good guy.

"You want to stay up till 10pm and drink a litre of Raspberry Fanta? What an awesome idea! Hell, let's just stay up till 10.30pm when your mom will be here to pick you up!"

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Lori McD wrote: "I'm going to put a plea out there for one or more of you to read The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1) by Samantha Shannon."

I think I might read that one. I have a few on my plate at the moment...but after The Garden of Happy Endings, Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare and Running Against Traffic by Gaelen VanDenberg, I'll jump into it.

message 3191: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Thanks for all the congratulations, all!

Ian, hope you will read The Bone Season - anxious to hear what you think. But I totally get the large TBR list. I'm slowly working my way through mine.

Thinking that I'll need to take some library books back and request them again later, just get to through.

message 3192: by D.G. (last edited Sep 09, 2013 04:23PM) (new)

D.G. Congrats, Lori!

I'll have to check out The Bone Season.

ETA: Both my libraries have the ebook but long wait lines...oh well...I should get it one of these days. :)

message 3193: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Congrats Lori!! I'm going to be an Auntie again on October and I cannot wait!

Man I really want to read A Bad Day for Sorry (Bad Day, #1) by Sophie Littlefield But I need to wait for Wendy...lol!

Wendy, yeah next week is fine. I'll finish up some ARC's

message 3194: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Congrats Lori!

I just finished Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire and thought it was a promising start to a series and I'm looking forward to continuing on with it. Eventually. On my ipod, I'm listening to The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom and really liking it. It sorta reminds me of The Help back in the 1880s.

I have bone season reserved at the library as well - but im like 25/63 on the reserve list for the ebook...hopefully sooner rather than later

message 3196: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Cage and it was good but not a emotionaly provoking at Axel's book.

Now I don't know what to read. I really really want to read A Bad Day for Sorry (Bad Day, #1) by Sophie Littlefield . Wendy, I can't help myself I just have to read it. lol!

message 3197: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments 70% through with Spectyr (Book of the Order, #2) by Philippa Ballantine . Kinda can't wait to move on because it's not like I thought it would be. I'm ready to move on to another world now!

message 3198: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Anyone read The Keep by Jennifer Egan I'm really enjoying it.

I haven't read this but it sounds very interesting.

message 3200: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments A Bad Day for Sorry (Bad Day, #1) by Sophie Littlefield looks really good and my library has it - yay! But only by mail order so will have to wait a bit. They have the next 2 books in that series so I went ahead and put a hold on those in case I like it. I'm currently reading Stephanie Plum's To the Nines (Stephanie Plum, #9) by Janet Evanovich on my kindle and in that goofy mystery mood. Gosh, Plum books crack me up!!
