agreed Dee. I am not sure if I will continue on.

Glad you enjoyed it! What did you think of his family?

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Regina...(view spoiler)

message 6055: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I agree Kay. I was also worried that she would write it stereotypically or idealistically - but she did neither. It was pretty real.

message 6056: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments How did you like Unbound, Regina?

message 6057: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I loved the writing and the story. But the sex was not interesting for me at all. I know that seems like a weird reason to say I dind't love it. I gave it 3.5 stars (which is a low rating for me for McKenna) but most readers gave it 4-5 stars. So they were all able to get past that issue. :)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments You gals are killing me!

message 6059: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Don't click on the spoiler, Angie. Ha!

Regina, if you liked the story, then I will check it out.

message 6060: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Angie what part are you at?

I thought she wrote small broken down small north/midwest town life well. Did you catch the cross over with After Hours? Same region.

message 6061: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I loved how she mentioned Annie working a day a week @ the psych ward.

Courtney | 159 comments Finished The Emperor's Edge (The Emperor's Edge, #1) by Lindsay Buroker which was an average read for me. I probably won't continue the series.

Starting What the Duke Desires (The Duke's Men, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries .

message 6075: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i'm listening to Dreams of Gods & Monsters now - i'm intrigued like always...i'm only about an hour or so in...so it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

message 6076: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Regina and Angie, I can start tonight.

message 6077: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Dee - I am reading (which is a switch for me) and I am enjoying it.

I can join you for the Halle book!

message 6078: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i don't have time to read it right now...haha! I have like 20 million other books in progress...lol!

message 6079: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I need to finish up Hard Time, and then I'll jump in for Love, in English.

message 6080: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'll join you guys! Maybe this will end my reading slump.

message 6081: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I just finished Hard Time by Cara McKenna , and I really enjoyed it. She is another one of those authors who can take the mundane and make it interesting for the reader.

I'm hoping to get at least one chapter in of Love, In English by Karina Halle before I crash!

message 6082: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) DNF'd Fool's Assassin (The Fitz and The Fool Trilogy, #1) by Robin Hobb , Blind Faith (Sin Brothers, #3) by Rebecca Zanetti wasn't bad. It's the second one of this series I've read. Typical types of action and hero. Did like that the female protagonist had some spirit to her. The Unexpected Duchess (Playful Brides, #1) by Valerie Bowman had that wit and steam I like in my HR. Not the absolute best example of it but a lot of fun nonetheless.

message 6083: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I didn't make it too far into Love, In English. I'm only on Ch 4. How is it coming along for everyone else?

message 6084: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I didn't make it far either, she is still on the bus.

message 6085: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments You're not far behind from me. I probably won't be able to read until tomorrow...after my kid's sports games.

message 6086: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Me too!

message 6087: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I am only on Chapter 2. I'm going to read tonight, but I plan on going to the office tomorrow and playing catch up, so I doubt I'll get that far. Interesting so far.

You gotta love a book that starts off with a bang!

message 6088: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments It definitely started off with a hot bang. Hehe!

message 6089: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I haven't started!! I hope to in the morning before the boys games.

message 6090: by Ian (last edited Apr 25, 2014 03:24PM) (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I started The Collector which is honestly just the same as every other NR books.

The Search

Heroine has isolated herself
Hero is tetchy artisan
Hero is super wealthy
psychopath
Two friends who get together

The Collector

I guess the big difference is The Collector has plot flaws. It's OK but I can't see it being more than a 3 Star book and if that massive sign post she just tried to hide behind a stick with a leaf on it turns out to be true I might just go lower to punish her for treating me like an idiot.

The Collector by Nora Roberts

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I also began The Best Medicine by Tracy Brogan which is really quite good.

The Best Medicine (Bell Harbor, #2) by Tracy Brogan

message 6092: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I just finished The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12) by J.R. Ward and going into hangover mode or whatever it is when you finish a big book, totally immersed in the world and feeling kinda blah. I can't even think of starting another book yet. Think I'll go over to the BDB thread to see what everybody says about The King.

That looks good, Ian. How old is the heroine in that one?

message 6094: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished What the Duke Desires (The Duke's Men, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries , which I enjoyed and am intrigued to read the author's other novels.

Going to start Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles #1) by Ilona Andrews .

35. Nice. Way out of NA range!

Thanks, Ian!

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments How are you all liking Love in English? I love the story and the setting. I like the characters a lot. I struggle with Halle's writing because I think it isn't always well done. But I can't put this down.

message 6098: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (last edited Apr 26, 2014 06:01PM) (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm loving it. I'm almost done. I didn't plan to read so much, but I've been sucked 'write' in. ;)

I love the setting, too. I wonder if this is a real program, or if this is something the author came up with on her own. The story has a slow build to it, too, which is what I like.

ETA: I'm not big on the girl who acts like something crawled up her *(*(#$ and died, though. LOL

I'm going to have to read the Sins & Needles trilogy pretty soon!

message 6099: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I finished it and loved it. There were a few slow parts, but it didn't hinder me from enjoying the story.

This is possibly my best read so far of 2014. I'm glad you suggested it, Regina. She is another author I have been 'meaning to try,' but just haven't got around to until now!

I swear I get the best recs from this group!

message 6100: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just finished it and loved it too.

Wow -- this is your first by her? Oh Angie!! You need to read Experiment in Terror!!
