Dirk (dirk_p_broer) | 50 comments Hi Laurie,
Why would you want to change ALL your covers? Covers belong to a ISBN number, don't they? When your publisher has given all your titles new covers simply enter the books anew with the new covers.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Laurie,

As an author, you have a limited number of functions you can perform on your own book records, but GoodReads does not change covers, so that's why it isn't allowing you to change the covers for your books that already have them. GR catalogue's *all* books so that people can shelve books they've read with the covers that match.

For the books that have had new covers, you can add Alternate Cover Editions or have one of us do it for you, as outlined in message 1 of the thread I linked to above.

Laurie, please do not change or "update" valid covers or other valid book data. I have reverted all those changes you made that were contrary to Goodreads policy. Please see Jennifer's post above for more details.

I was not aware that I wasn't supposed to change covers. I was told by another Goodreads member how to do it, and it worked fine for two of the three books, just not the third one. If the Goodreads administration had responded to any of my multiple requests, I would have known ahead of time that I wasn't supposed to do this. Thank you for the information.

Oh, and in answer to Dirk's questions: There is no publisher involved. I am self-published, and as these are Kindle books, there are no ISBN numbers, only ASIN. I changed the covers of all three self-pubbed books because my early covers were very basic, self-made using a very simple photo editing program. Now that I've started selling enough books to afford to upgrade to more professional-looking covers, that's what I've been doing.

Thanks, everyone! I deleted my original comment because I didn't want to be inundated with "you can't do this" messages now that I know that I, um, can't do this...
