Why does everyone hate Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace?

Not to be rude but i do not find him attractive! Jace is gorgeous with looks of an angel, Jamie doesn't have that.

honstly i dont have a problum with it but when i was reading the book i visind alexander ludwig as jace
Normally I get very scared when books are turned into movies. When I saw the trailer for City of Bones, it was no exception. The only character I felt they cast correctly was Jace. Honestly, the thing that made me the most upset was that Clary's hair was NOT RED!!! Anyway, Jamie gave his interpretation of Jace, and Cassandra Clare has been very positive about him. If the author loves him, that's good enough for me.

well Jace spent 10 years in Idris which was in europ so Jamie having an accent makes sense also the fact that Clarissa Clair said that the accent was fine is a nother big thing

I probably shouldn't say anything because I've never seen Jamie act....But I can't see him as Jace, at all. I don't like Lily Collins as Clary either, other than the red hair, she isn't how I imagined Clary in any universe. I have tried and tried to fit them in my mind as Clary and Jace, but it won't work. Nothing about his accent at all, but in the trailer he just wasn't pulling off Jace. And Lily was okay in the trailer, but it was just agitating. I loved Simon in the trailer, though.
I agree with Raven that it's not how I pictured them... but after watching the trailers I think they're do great. I honestly have no problem with it.

I admit that I didn't see Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace, but honestly by the time I see the movie, the only person I will be able to picture as Jace is Jamie Campbell Bower. It doesn't always happen that way, but 8/9 times it does, lol. That's just what I think.
However he looks, he seems to nail it as far as character goes. I hear teen girls keep approaching the actor and asking to touch his mango...To celebrate the movie, Myths and Motifs of The Mortal Instruments will be free from the publisher for two days only!

I don't think he meets the handsome requirements or the physical body structure for the role of Jace. He was too lean. The kissing scene between him and Clary actually made me cringe. Simon had more sexual appeal with Clary than him. Sorry just being honest. Disappointed with the casting because the guy is a very good actor, just not for this book series.
I saw the movie and was floored JCB was great as Jace he did the character perfectly.
i didn't like him at first, but only cause it was my initial thats not who i wanted shock. After seeing the movie I totally regret what I though. hes perfect. and gorgeous. and talented. and he sings. and im collecting shirtless pictures of him. hfdyuih.
When i saw the movie he did a good job as Jace. I imagined jace hotter, but he did a very good job and in the end that's all that matters.
Before the previews, I did question their decision in making Jamie Campbell Bower Jace, but after watching the trailers and the movie, I think they portrayed Jace's character EXTREMELY well. He is sarcastic, can be sweet and gentle, and has the such loved humor as Jace from the book. I think they made a great decision with Jamie Campbell Bower. He's got such a charismatic personality, and lets face it is super hot. I, personally, never saw Alex Pettyfetter as Jace. He doesn't fit Jace's character, unlike Jamie. I loved the movie with Jamie in it. I can't wait for the second one.
Jamie doesn't have the look. Whereas Jace is super gorgeous, Jamie is not. Jamie is cute though (just wish that he doesn't have those too big eyes), and I think he did his best effort playing Jace.Jamie is talented and I love him in Sweeney Todd, but his delivering Jace's arrogance and sarcasm was a bit flat. And what's with flipping hair? Once was fine, but repeatedly? Did the movie director asked him to do that? Should they have cast a really handsome young actor as Jace, they didn't have to add that annoying flipping hair to have the audiences' eyes fixated to Jace.
you know, he's not the greatest looking however, he was one of the best actors in the movie.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I could tell that he just wasn't right for Jace. He didn't show that... attitude and personality Jace had. Oh, and when I get to see the movie, I'll look out for whenever he flips his hair and tally it up :P

I honestly had no idea what the casting directors were thinking when they chose him for the part, but now, after seeing the movie, I really think he did a decent job. I was looking at the trailers and clips of the movie before I went to see it today, and I had low expectations for him. He really did do quite well though! I was pleasantly surprised. :)

Actually, yes he said that line exactly! My friend and I went to see it, and we were talking about how we were so glad they left that line in because, if they hadn't, Jace wouldn't have seemed nearly as full of himself!

It really is worth seeing if you ask me! They had more exact quotes from the book than I was expecting, and that made it SO MUCH better! Also, Simon was just PERFECT! They cast his character wonderfully, and he really was sooooo much like I would imagine Simon being!

Alec was not what I envisioned him as being, but he wasn't really bad. Magnus was like this mega hot Asian model guy that they put a LOT of makeup on so he'd look gay. One part it showed his cat eyes really well though, and I thought he was a REALLY good Magnus! Izzy needed to be taller and wear clothes that fit the book better, but other than that, she was pretty good too.

Well, they're at the party, and they ask Magnus if they can talk, and then Magnus says something like "Only if the hot one stays." Or something like that. I can't remember exactly. Then Jace is like "I'm not going anywhere." XD XD i died. And Magnus is like "No I mean him. " and he points to Alec. Alec just looks uncomfortable. XD
Poor Jamie. I like him no matter that he actually failed the look and sarcasm. I wonder if I will be able to see the hot kissing scene at the Seelie Court considering TMI didn't score out successfully on Box Office. The movie is out of the BO this week....

I adore Jamie as Jace. I've been a fan of his since Sweeney Todd and he was who I thought about while reading the books. To me, he is Jace, and I find him very attractive. Honestly, had Alex said yes, I'd have been very disappointed.
Jace is kind of supposed to have that cool "attitude" thing, and be amused by a lot of random stuff, but I don't think Jamie displayed any of that. His acting showed some stiffness in acting in some parts where he should be showing more feelings- towards Clary, like how he should look at her- but couldn't let me feel that he is that deep into acting in Jace's role. Jamie's voice suits Jace in a way though, it's deep and cool. He's okay in overall for the movie but I guess he's just way off from what I thought he would be like (in terms of the "feel" thing of a character you know?:/) for me to think that he fits this role.
I think A lot of people (myself included) find his looks to be lacking, mainly that he is so skinny in the face it looks as if he has been doing meth for three months straight. Not what anyone pictured in their head while reading this delicious series!
Jamie Campbell Bower is the best Jace Wayland/Morgenstern/Herondale/Lightwood they could've picked!!! He's great actor he can play anything.
I love him as Jace! He did such an amazing job in the movie! I wasn't sure if I would like him at first, but he had me convinced within five minutes of watching him. No, he wasn't what I had really expected Jace would be like from the books, but I liked all the changes they made to the movie. Jamie was awesome and he was sexy the whole way through. You have to give him that.

And it is not Alex against Jamie. As close as Alex's look might be to Jace's appearance, he is still not the Jace we read in the books. No one can, to be honest, for Jace has the angelic look, which is out of this world kind of beauty. And don't forget, Alex was always the first choice for Jace before he declined the offer. Even for the casting director, Alex has the better appearance than Jamie.
Why the look? Because Jace is the look beside he is an excellent shadowhunter. To say that Jace's look is not that important is rather ridiculous, because we read about his angelic and stunning look in the books more than once. Clary even mentioned about Jace's look when she described Jace.
I can see why people didn't think Jamie was good enough for Jace, and in truth he isn't. No one is. Jace is just to amazing! I'm quite happy with Jamie and he has done a fabulous job as Jace, as good as anyone in real life can do.
Since no one is criticizing Lily Collins' role as Clary (because she was awesome), I would like to point out that "My Clary wouldn't have turned out likes this without your Jace" (or something like that).

I was a little apprehensive of Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace at first, he wasn't what I was picturing Jace to be. Not sure who I would have picked to play Jace but, then he grew on me and now I think he is perfect for the role. I personally think he is incredibly good looking and the accent just makes him even hotter. I think he did a fabulous job in the movie and I love his acting in his other films as well, (some of my faves are: Anonymous, and Sweeney Todd).It amazes me how many people wanted Alex Pettyfer to play Jace. I personally don't think he would have been right for the role at all (my opinion). Every time I see or hear about Alex Pettyfer all I think of is the horrible job he did in Magic Mike. Kinda hard to picture him playing a sarcastic, kick ass Shadowhunter after seeing him in that movie. Alex Pettyfer may have a pretty face but his acting is not that great, and I don't think he would have been able to play the role of Jace very well.
I love Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace and hope they continue with the series. I'm anxious to see what the films will do next.
Wait, ok, I have been hearing rumors that, because the movie didn't do so well, that City of Ashes movie filming has been postponed???!!??? In my opinion I thought the movie was pretty good! There are always going to be differences between movie and book, but I thought they stayed pretty close to the book. It was good!
I agree with Ariel! I heard that the CoA movie got postponed and honestly I'm quite confused. I thought the movie was fine! Anyone else know anything about this?
It was postponed because they want to rewrite the sceneplay so that it is closer to the book. The director is still planning to make it, but he wanted to make it better for the fans.
The only reason I don't like Jamie as Jace is because he doesn't remind me of anything like Jace in the book.
