Yup, out of everything you said, this was what got me. LOL

Yeah I too often wondered where Ward got her character traits from. Or her frame of reference if you will. But I never got the impression that they were black cos of how they were all described in book 1.

It did have me crackin up though that these old white vampires love the hip hop culture. That they are so.. Fluent in it. But I thought it was a refreshing little twist with the series. Especially when I would compare it to all the other PNR that I had read before the BDB.

LOL I guess I'm just bothered by the idea that Layla fell hard for a cut-throat. Not that it's impossible for that to happen, but c'mon. I just want Xcor to die and I don't want him taking Layla down with him I guess. All I know is that when Layla left the mansion, my heart rate sped up because I just knew she was going to have a run in with Xcor and I was furious when she not only did, but also shared an intimate moment with him. I laughed when she confirmed the pregnancy to him and honestly like a little kid I almost stuck my tongue out and teased that Qhuinn got there first! I guess you have to have a character you love to hate. For me it's Xcor and Havers.

Erin O'Riordan I want Xcor and Layla to happen. They have the attraction to each other, and we all know where that leads in the J.R. Wardverse. Layla has had it rough for a long time and she deserves to be happy with whoever she wants.

Also, I really need a fully-developed love story between Trez and Selena. And I will always picture Trez and iAm as Black. And super-hot.

Yup, agree. Theirs is gonna be a hard story to flesh out but I'm looking forward to it. I hope it's awesome

After she added the BOB's, she forgot about all the other characters. We haven't seen Nalla since she was born.

His mother was human

Lash's mother was a civilian vamp. If his mom was human then how could he have a vamp side? The Omega isn't a vampire.

And this also cancels out Throe's sister being his mom since she died years before in the "Old Country" and she was considered of Aristocratic blood line, so she couldn't have been a civilian vamp and over in America in the 80's no less when Lash was born.

Lynda Bester Hello

I want to know what was in the other drums in LAL?
What happened to Blay's gun shot wound,
And what was in the lock box?
Oh, do you think both Blay and Qhuinn will get their 'others' name on their back? I really hope she puts it in the next book? Oh, where can i find that short story?

Agree on both. I love the possibility and the slow build up between Layla and Xcor. So delicious & heart melting. Yeah they come from different worlds but that's part of what makes them interesting together and it doesn't bother me. It works. He has clearly fallen for her and has shown the lengths he would go to to make her feel safe & comfortable. (he disarmed in front of her and wanted to undo what has already been done with Wrath for her) For a hardened warrior like him who's ruthless that says a lot. He's not hopeless IMO.

As for Trez and Selena, I like them together but I want more before going down that road. We've gotten some POV from Trez, now I want Selena's POV and back story. I think we will get more of that in The King I just hope it isn't rushed.

Pamela Y. I have really enjoyed reading all the post... wow. They are just great. I was wondering why anyone would think Autumn was Throe's sister? Will hanging out with Layla really help Beth get pregnant? Why are we still reading about Assail and now she has given him a real story by adding Marisol to the picture....but really. Why is it that Layla can't materialize but Bella could early in her pregnancy? So Autumn went through her needing but did she get pregnant...don't remember this being mentioned.

message 63: by ~*~Princess Nya Vasiliev~*~ (last edited Oct 21, 2013 05:54AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

~*~Princess Nya Vasiliev~*~ @ Pamela, Autumn didn't get pregnant. Though she went into her Needing & there was speculation about it, it was never said that she had gotten pregnant. I really think her Needing was just used as a catalyst so that not only could her & Tohr get their act together, but so Layla could go into her's & therefore becoming pregnant by Qhuinn & causing Beth to go into her's a bit sooner rather than later. (Cos we all know how Wrath will feel about that LOL) Possibly in the book The King.

It's been said a couple times that if another female is around one who is in her Needing or is pregnant, that that can sometimes trigger another female's Needing if they are in close proximity to one another.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe she is capable of surviving off Manny's blood since it is so rich and she compared it to wraths'.

I wonder if Manny will be turned like Butch

Marianne Pamela wrote: "I have really enjoyed reading all the post... wow. They are just great. I was wondering why anyone would think Autumn was Throe's sister? Will hanging out with Layla really help Beth get pregnant? ..."

Beth hanging out with Layla will not help her get pregnant, she would need Wrath for that ;) but she is hoping that being around hormonal pregnant Layla will stimulate/induce her needing.

Autum did not get pregnant because she did not have sex during her needing. She was drugged to stop the pain. Same as Marissa did for the 300 years she was Wrath's shellan since they never had sex.

I doubt that Murhder is Butch/Manny's father since it is thought that their father was a half-breed able to go out in the Sun (given that he was a doctor).

Mochaspresso Were there other people in the oil drums at the Omega hideout? Why didn't they save anyone else? Perhaps Havers could have cared for them at his clinic. What was the Omega planning to do with those people?

Where is the Scribe Virgin? Why isn't she more active in trying to deal with her brother, the Omega?

Will John and Blay become brothers? What about the women? Payne and Xhex?

Even if John, himself, doesn't remember that he is Darius reincarnated, will someone else in the BDB eventually figure it out? Perhaps, Tohrment, since he seemed to be the one who was closest to Darius.

Where is Sola? Who came to her house and who kidnapped her? (I was thinking that Benloise may have had something to do with it as retaliation for breaking into his house.)

What exactly are the Shadows/s'Hisbe's?

I'm either forgetting or confusing some of the details from the earlier books. Did the brotherhood mansion used to be Darius' old mansion? In the first book, wasn't his mansion described as being on a street? I thought I remembered Wrath giving Beth the address and telling her to meet him there and becoming angry when she doesn't show. How is it now on a remote mountain location that no one knows about?

A couple of different future story lines have been set up. Assail and Sola, Layla and Xcor, Trez and Selena....whose book could be next after The King?

Yes in the first book the brothers were living at Darius's townhouse. Everything that happens in Dark Lover was in the Townhouse. But then they moved to the compound which is much more remote and covered with mhis so it's very hard to detect or get into. They relocated to the compound after Dark Lover.

Ward has stated that John nor the Brothers, will ever figure out that he really is Darius. It will cancel everything out as to why he was brought back in the first place. the terms that the SV gave him before bringing him back, also JM's whole book, Lover Mine will be pointless too, regarding his journey & coming full circle etc.. if anyone was to ever figure out that he's Darius. And think of the mind F8ck this can of worms would cause for everyone if they knew, considering their place in Darius' life. JM, Tohr & Xhex especially.

Plus, I'm kinda glad Ward will keep it this way. It means we know somethin that the Brothers don't :D

I don't think that he is their father either. Butch supposedly looks just like their father. Xhex was in a relationship with Murhder until he left the Brotherhood. She should have recognized the uncanny resemblance when she met Butch for the first time.

~*~Princess Nya Vasiliev~*~ Yea Murhder isn't Butch or Manny's father. Especially when u consider not only the time frames of Manny & Butch's conception, but also that their father is most likely a half breed since he's a doctor, & their blood line is a descendant of Wrath's. Plus Murhder is no doctor.

♥ℳelody When reading JM's book I also was hoping the truth would come out that he's Darius. I especially wanted Beth to find out considering she never got the chance to meet her father. But now I understand why Ward didn't do that and I'm now glad she didn't. It would literally implode everything and undo everything that's been done so far so yeah...that would suck. lol

And I'm glad that JM thinks Darius is his father. It's very fitting and comforting. When Tohr gave him Darius's ring and he finally wore it (I think that happened in Reborn?) that scene resonated with me. He had such a lonely shitty childhood so to now have a family who welcomes him with open arms and accepts him as one of their own has been really sweet to see. That's why I've adored the father/son relationship between him and Tohr since the minute Mary and Bella brought him to the compound. It fits.

Llaura Interesting info –
--> So in terms of will John ever remember his old life --> I say that despite her saying that the universe will collapse on itself or something should John ever remember his previous life –I say that if it’s not in the book –it’s not solid and things can still change. (I really think that she should be more focused on what’s already published in her books than what she posted on the message boards and treating to board postings as part of the story. Honestly –any details like that should have been in the book –since it wasn’t, I really hope that she’s not set on it.)

I really hope that she’s not solid on not making John Matthew remember his previous life. I mean –let’s see: No’One died, Jane died, and Mary was close to death ---all their memories stayed intact. So I don’t really see the harm in him remembering. The reason why I want John to remember his previous life since it might give the other brothers the possibility of modifying the induction ceremony differently –or doing something differently.
But if JM doesn’t remember –I still want to see JM and Blay’s induction!! In addition, I know she somewhat alluded that John Matthew’s induction will be done off screen. And I say –WHAT THE HELL!! Come on!! It would be a little repetitive but I still want to see it. I mean, if I see one baby getting baptized or someone graduating from college –does that mean that I don’t want to see another baptism or graduation again? Each one is different and special. John Matthew and Blay are so very special and I want to see their induction ceremonies!!
As for the SV, I’m not sorry that I haven’t been reading that much about her –but based on Butch’s induction she should have been there for Qhuinn’s.
###
In terms of current open story lines, I’m thinking:
- Rhage/Mary’s baby issue –I heard that it will be a novella but I really hope that Ward incorporates it in a main story. (Rhage has got to be one of my favorite and his lines are always awesome! I always love it when he’s part of a scene.)
- The training center –damn it! It should be open by now --> more than 20 months has come and gone!!
- And wasn’t there supposed to be a civilian police force too or something? (or was the training program?)
- What is going on with the other shellans and Manny?
- If Payne is losing her healing ability –does that mean that Manny will grow old? And if he does grow old –would he choose to be transformed like Butch?
- The war with the lessening society… that story has so not moved along since Lash was gone. It’s tidbits here and there.
- One of the reasons that John Matthew was able to get back was to interact with Beth –I haven’t seen much of them interacting. I thought I would have seen more of her in John Matthew’s book but –nothing. So –I’m really hoping that there will be more interaction between them in the future.
- Does the glymera know that Lash was the reason why the raids occurred?
- Happily ever after for Luchas, Murdher, Lassiter, and Saxton (possibly even for Throe, Zypher, and the twins)
- Mating ceremony with Qhuinn and Blay –not to mention their bonding scents together!! :)
- And I know that some issues would have been addressed in The King and The Shadows (Trez/iAm/Selena/Sola/Assail –and something about Mhurder/Murdher is going to be in the next book too oh and I almost forgot –Xcor and Layla + Qhuinn and Blay and Layla’s pregnancy and Xcor and Tohr connection)
- And an upcoming storyline rumor that I read that Lash is likely to be back. I’m okay with this as long as John Matthew is the one who put him in his place.
- Oh, I almost forgot –I thought that the Omega needed consent from individuals in order to make them Lessers –like selling your soul to the devil. I mean, during that mass induction ceremony –those weren’t consents –are those souls doomed as long as the Omega is living?
- Is it not possible at all for V and Doc Jane to have a child? (Can they adopt or something? I only bring this is up because the Brotherhood not only needs more brothers but warriors to help fight the war against the lessers. They need that and/or bring in more sympaths (through Rhev’s colony) and the shadows too. That would be a great alliance ==> brotherhood + sympaths + the shadows + (hopefully more warriors/brothers)
- Oh, Xhex doesn’t seem to be the motherly type so I’d like to see how she would handle her needing. Same goes for Tohr –after what happened to his last family –what does he think about having children)
- Maybe the Band of Bastards will eventually join forces with the Brotherhood? (I mean really, instead of the brotherhood focusing on the war with the lessers, they also have to keep an eye out for the glymera and the BoB –which means that precious energy is being wasted on fighting with the glymera and the Band of Brothers than focusing on the war. It only makes sense for them to join together
- Oh, and since the fallen angel series is ending, can they help with the war? I mean Lassiter is able to help...
And that’s all that I got so far.

♥ℳelody You make an interesting point Llaura about JM and the induction. But I can't see her having JM remember just because it will disrupt things for a lot of people. Xhex and Beth especially and JM himself. Darius was reborn as JM but JM settled into his shoes and made his own memories, his own life, it would totally screw him up in the head finding out that he's not who he thought he was. Something he will never get over so yes it's a big deal and not something that can just be written in after all of this.

No'One, Mary and Jane's situations were totally different. They aren't carrying another sole or given another body. Their past memories were their own, not another soul's. Very different. And having JM gain Darius's memories is the same as bringing everyone who dies back to life. It's the same argument readers have over why Ward brought those 3 ladies back to life but not Wellsie. What's the point? It wouldn't be interesting and make all the storylines redundant and so predictable. What's interesting about JM is that he is carrying around a double life, he's got all this history that he thinks he's carrying down from his father. It's part of what makes him so interesting. And it's the reason why the SV took away his voice box. Giving back his memories would pretty much undo that and everything he's experienced IMO.

To me Darius and JM are two different characters now. JM is an established character in this series now that readers have become attached to. That's how Ward has set it up and written it. We've seen JM grow and mature and go through his own personal struggles and make ties of his own. It would pretty much undo everything Ward has written for him so far if he magically gained Darius's memories.

I was one he was hoping he would gain some of his memories in Lover Mine but now I don't.

Llaura Melody wrote: "You make an interesting point Llaura about JM and the induction. But I can't see her having JM remember just because it will disrupt things for a lot of people. Xhex and Beth especially and JM hims..."

Good point. The only thing I hope then is for us to see JM (and Blay's) induction. I don't like the idea of it happening off screen. Both are big parts of the brotherhood now. Also, I would like to see more interaction with John Matthew and Beth. The last time I saw them really interact was from Lover Enshrined. I was also hoping for this interaction in Lover Min but I didn't.

Oh --now that you mentioned it. Didn't he get flashbacks too --the one where Tohr said that he wouldn't have shoot if he wasn't sure. I don't understand it. We as the audience know the reason why he's getting flashbacks --but what is the reasoning for the characters in the book. If I was JM I would want to know why I keep getting those memory flashbacks. If she (Ward) never intended for Darius to regain his memory --then why the flashbacks --not to mention why does he have the brotherhood mark on him or have a brotherhood name... It just seems to me that she (Ward) intended JM's flashbacks, the brotherhood mark, and the brotherhood name to mean something --and it just ended up being --oh -he's Darius' son. I mean --wouldn't some members of the brotherhood know that he would have had another child. Not to mention --wouldn't Darius have been responsible enough to know and look after his children. I mean --he did look after Beth. (I guess it can be argued that Darius didn't know) It still bothers me though that it sounded like the marks, the flashbacks, and the brotherhood name were suppose to mean more that the wrong conclusion that JM is Darius' son. It felt like it was going to eventually lead him to knowing that he was Darius. I mean if anything --when Tohr made the shot --that would have been the perfect opportunity to bring him back. How else would he know about those memories? Not to mention how does seeing Beth --a long lost sister set off migraines? I guess I just find it odd. I mean had I not looked up John Matthew --as a reader, I would have always thought that JM was Darius' son and it would have bothered me not knowing the reasoning behind the flashbacks, the brotherhood mark, and his name with "Therror"...

The flashbacks were triggered by critical moments in his life --Beth, the explosion, his dreams (I almost forgot his dreams), and Tohr's perfect shot which had distinct similarities to when they were at the barn with Rosalyndha (No'One/Autumn). If the induction does occur --this would also have been a critical moment in his life that would induce flashbacks. From what I can tell, the induction ceremony is a powerful thing that they go through --I can't imagine him not getting flashbacks on this one. --> Actually there's an "aha" moment there. We (the readers) should definitely get a glimpse of JM's induction. Based on past critical moment's of JM's life -- he had seizures (Beth, the dreams, Tohr and his perfect shot, etc...) --when it was triggered by something momentous in his life. --Therefore, now, I would really be interested to see how John's induction would go.
