It was a pirate romance. The pirate's brother gets addicted to opium in the Orient and overdoses. The brother finds him after the brother dies and buries his body. The pirate swears vengeance against a female druglord - they have a love/hate relationship. Cut to the heroine who runs away from home (somewhere in the Pacific). She's chasing after a guy she loves - his name is Shyuler (sp?) - that secondary character is the one one whose name I remember. On her way chasing down Shyuler she gets kidnapped by the pirate. They sail around in the Hawaii area and fall in love. This book has been my "white whale" for years! I can't remember the author or the name! Please help because I want to re-read it.

might try Johanna Lindsey I can not remember name of book but she did have one that dealt with pirates and sounds like this..hope it helps

I believe the book is Moonwind by Susannah Leigh. It's been a long time since I read it, but I seem to remember that someone else kidnapped her when they were on Hawaii.
