Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments QUESTION:
How does one navigate to the following page from the Home Page of WhatIs.com?

http://whatis.techtarget.com/referenc...

It's the "Blog terms: Glossary". How do you get there from the Home Page?

message 3: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) click on the letter 'B', then go over a few pages of those until you find the entry for 'Blog Terms Glossary'.

I've used it for file extensions, but I generally just google for a term.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Thank you, Jim! That sure is a round-about way of getting there! Who would ever search for it there? LOL

I found it by googling for "thread drift". LOL

Anyway, I thought you were turning in after a hard day.

PS-I was depending on YOU to answer my question! Thanks!

You can't imagine how many times I say to my kids and husband: "Jim of Kentucky said..."
They all know who "Jim of Kentucky" is! :)

My point exactly. That's why I don't really use it. They have a built-in search, but a general Google search usually gets me the answer faster.

I have a title in your house? How cool is that? LOL! Thanks.

I do mention you all to Marg, but when I mentioned you the other night she told me she can't keep up with all my girl friends & to get on with it.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments How does Marg manage to do it? (keep up with you) :)

message 9: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Marg doesn't try to keep up with me. She gets frustrated sometimes because she'll mention it might be nice to do something & I'll do it. Then she tells me she was just thinking about it & hadn't really decided yet. Oh well, I like working around the place.

I find it frustrating to work with many people. They're slow & inefficient. Mom is great to work with. When we moved into a place one time, Marg & I started painting & then Mom came over. She & knocked out whole rooms before Marg was done with a section. My boys are good to work with, too. I guess there's a reason.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Jim, it's great the you enjoy "working around the place." I understand what you mean because I enjoy puttering around the house... not necessarily cleaning but organizing, tidying up, and thinking up better ways to function around the house.

I like having a "system" for doing things efficiently. This often means leaving things out in clear sight where I can grab them when I need them (and not forget where I put them), e.g., scissors, pens & pencils, scrap paper pads, paperwork, magnifying glasses, lap blankets, sweaters, shoes, slippers, puffs tissues, current books, notes to myself, hand lotion, nasal spray, floss picks, eyeglasses, dog leashes, dog toys... and on and on.

To the uninitiated it all looks like clutter but to me it looks perfectly organized. (lol)

Oh, I'm a slowpoke and when I paint I get paint in my hair. You would not like working with me. :)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments PS-Jim, about your comment: "Marg doesn't try to keep up with me."

That reminds me of a wonderful insight I came across years ago. I'll paraphrase:
==================================================
A man was standing next to a very high mountain.

His friend said to him: "Doesn't that mountain make you feel small?"

He replied to his friend: "No, because I'm not trying to compete with the mountain."
==================================================

There's a lesson there. Instead of being intimidated by greater things or people, one should simple admire them. Happiness comes from accepting our limitations, as long as we give ourselves credit for our own personal strengths and we make the best of them.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments PS-I found a different paraphrase (by me) of the same insight which I posted in my Message #11 above:
=================================================
Once upon a time there was a little hill next to a large mountain.
A tree said to the hill, "Don't you feel small sitting next to that large mountain?"
The little hill replied:
"No, I don't feel small. I'm not competing with that mountain."
==================================================

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm like you in organizing stuff, Joy. I really don't like painting, so it's a chore I try to knock out as quickly as possible, but done right since experience has shown that I'm going to look at the job for a long time.
;-)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments We put off painting as long as possible. :)
