Fleur Beale? She's written quite a few so there are probably a wide-ish range
Where does she live? If she lives near me, I could show her something that might interest her. I'm in the Waikato. Is she here too by any chance?
Thank you everyone, these are all great =) I've compiled a list and included most of the names on here, as well as a few others that I could think of. Tui, no she doesn't, but thank you for the offer. I think she's a little spoilt for choice now actually :P
I have a friend who wants to send a NZ novel to a family member overseas. She wants something that's 'definitively' NZ. I told her I would compose a list of possible books so I thought I'd gather some ideas from you wonderful people here.
I know a lot of you have read more kiwi books than me. The ones I've come up so far with are Kate DeGoldi, Fiona Farrell, and Witi Ihimaera. She didn't want anything overly'high-brow' or whatever we call it, so I guess no Mansfield. (Though I want to suggest it anyway because Mansfield's brilliant.) Any other suggestions?
