Jem is in The Mortal Instruments!

Ok, who else noticed it? The name Brother Zachariah rang a bell in my head when I first read it, a name from City of Fallen Angels. During the scene in the book in which Jace and Clary are with the Silent Brothers there is a piece where Jace has a rather strange interaction with one of the Brothers (page 269-270 in the U.S. hardcover edition). The Brother not only mentions a tie between the brothers and the Herondale family but also touches Jace and says that if he had known Jace growing up, he would have known the truth of who he was.
Is anyone in doubt of who the Brother is? Jem seeing the descendent of his Parabatai, his brother, his friend.City of Fallen Angels

Is anyone else wondering how the hell Jem undid being a Silent Brother? It's not exactly a job you can just say,"well, it's been a good run" then get up and walk away.
Other than that I though Cassandra Clare did an amazing job at piecing it together. Just because I'm team Will doesn't mean I can't fangirl over Jem getting to be with Tessa too.

I'm guessing we will find out in the last book of TMI. The timing is about right if I remember correctly.

No more Will :( Except for the other series Cassie is doing that takes place between TID and TMI. But, darn, I'm not a huge fan of Jem, though he is very nice and cool.

How is it the Jem was able to survive after all the Silent Brothers were killed? In the epilogue of Clockwork Princess he appeared to Tessa as Jem instead of a Brother, commenting that he has seen and heard all that has happened between the characters in the Mortal Instruments (ie the new generation of Herondales, Lightwoods, and Fairchilds). I have only read up to the 3rd book in TMI but I do hope that he and Tessa solidify their presence in the next 3 books because he is now mortal again (around 19-20 yrs old). I think the epilogue implied that Tessa and Jem will be together as a couple again (after confessing their love to one another again). So this is taking place in 2008 and I think the TMI takes place in the 2007-2008 time period....so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

That's cause some of the Silent Brothers weren't there when Valentine killed them and many new were "promoted"for lack of a better word. It was mentioned in the second book as well the fourth and fifth books
