Shelldon (Aspiring Ninja) I'm Shell, or Michelle, depending on the seriousness of the situation! I'm 22, from Donegal and I'm currently living in Galway.

I'm a fan of fantasy, classics, comics and pretty much everything else, excluding romance novels (they give me the heevy jeevies).

I own a e-reader, which I picked up because its much easier, not to mention lighter, to have while moving about from house to house. Though I miss having paperbacks around, they are one of the things that make a house feel like a home!

Anywho, That's me. Hello!

Welcome to the group, Shell.

I keep promising myself an e-reader, but I keep putting it on the long finger. It makes it so much easier to find books, and the fact that you can get classics for free is a huge plus.

I used to have shelves stacked with books in my old place, but I don't have room for books any more. Usually when they start to pile up I exchange them. They do make a room more homely, that's for sure.

Anyhow, it's great to meet you and I hope you'll see some discussions that take your fancy.

Declan. :)

Hi! Galway is a place I'd really like to visit. Last time I did the tourist spots- Ring of Kerry, Newgrange, Blarney Stone, etc. This next trip in Oct. I would like to see Galway and the Dingle area. And, of course, Dublin as I have a free cup of coffee there thanks to Declan. What can you recommend in the Galway area for me? If you come to Calif. I'll do the same for you.

I was a hold out on a Kindle until this Christmas. My present to myself. I review books for several places and I wish I could download the one I'm reading now, "Paris" by Edward Rutherford. It's 800+ pages and I have to prop it up to read it.

I have a Stephen R. Donaldson book that I keep putting off because it's absolutely massive. I'll get myself a kindle soon enough.

I have a Nook and hardly touch it except when I am travelling which is not nearly enough. I find it easier to download the aps for Nook, Kindle or other e-reader onto my i-pad or lap top. You don't actually have to buy the Kindle or Nook.

Hey! Just off the cuff I can only think of one or two places; Galway city itself is full of interesting and gorgeous places, the whole place is like walking through a museum...medieval churches, 16century architecture etc. Well worth a wondering through on your visit!
And I'd recommend a walking tour through the Burren, Co. Clare. It's a protected landscape, and its like time stands still there, its beautiful.
Hope that helps abit!

For people who live in such lovely places it's hard to imagine how breathtaking it is to imagine walking through a town with all that history. I've heard the Burren is wonderful too. Thanks for the advice.

Massimiliano | 72 comments Hi there Shell! From Italy, by an "Italish" couple... :-)

PS: Galway is beautiful. And close to Arans, probably our favourite place in Ireland
