Jimmy (jimmylorunning) | 94 comments Cuban writer José Lezama Lima has been praised to the high heavens by Julio Cortazar in long essay, where he basically says Lima writes like nobody else. So why is it that he has only 271 ratings across 39 distinct works?

I have his supposed masterpiece Paradiso, but it's long, and I've not yet started on this intimidating journey. Looking forward to it, though!

Jonfaith | 12 comments Herr J, why not a Paradiso read for Summer 2013?

Jimmy (jimmylorunning) | 94 comments I'd be up for it. Though I am notoriously bad at group reads... I'll give it a shot, at least ;)

Jonfaith | 12 comments Agreed - I'm also a choke artist; consider my pedigree and my membership in Proust and Bleak House clubs. Not a single page turned. That said, Paradiso does excite me, more than a little.

Thanks for all the Author-ADDs yesterday. Most Excellent.

Jessica (jesstrea) | 14 comments I own Paradiso in both Spanish and English and yet... I've cracked neither. I should.

Jonfaith | 12 comments Think of a sweltering summer and an ad hoc group read; damn, I'm looking for mosquito repellant already.
