      Awesomness. Sums it up, don't you think? :D BILBO. GOLLUM. DWARVES. DRAGON!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TILL DECEMBER D;

It was awesomeness. I totally loved it. Totally amazing. Totally incredible. Ugh, I watched it three times in the theaters.

      Haha, awesome!!
Didn't you think Martin Freeman was perfect? ^^

(: He was pretty much the exact Bilbo I imagine. Pretty much. I mean; you can only get so close to a character in a book. The actor's always slightly, ever so slightly different. But yeah, he was excellent :) The whole movie actually completely changed my perspective of The Hobbit - I read it once, (my first classic) got bored half-way through, and struggled to the end, finishing it with relief. (I know! I'm sorry! D:) I thought nothing of it and definately had no plan of reading LotR until the movie came out, and I watched it. And I was like, "Hey! I read this! Hey! Suddenly this is a lot more exciting!" I don't know why. I'd read more classics between reading The Hobbit and the movie ... and then I read it again ... and suddenly I got all excited about it again xD. I immediately read the entire Lord of the Rings, too, and loved that. I'm mad. But yes, Thank you Peter Jackson and everyone (:

I was sort of the same way. The first time I read it, I wasn't a huge fan, but I didn't hate it either. I struggled to the end (what can you say-I was eight) and then never thought much.
Then, because I was going to start reading LotR, (before the movie was even in concept) I read the Hobbit again and enjoyed it more.
And then, when the previews came out, I was all like, "Hey, I read this twice!" So I felt like I was part of the fandom. But, I love being parts of fandoms (in a hard core way) so I read it once more and that was when I was all like,
WHAFLUBZABWA???!!
WHAT WAS I THINKING?
THIS BOOK IS FREAKING INCREDIBLE.

I don't want to watch the movie until I finish the book. But the pics look...awesome.

The movie is incredible, but I agree, book first.

The movie is awesomeness ... just be aware that they did change a couple of things, and that you will die before December 2013, and that the book is always better than the movie, no matter how incredibly epic the movie is (; xD And what I learnt - never take anyone else's opinion into account. Just make your own opinion and ignore everyone else. ^^
For those of you still reading or keeping The Hobbit on your to-read-list…do what Delaney or Johanna said…:)

The movie is excellent! I quite like the fact there'll be three because it means each detail will be added, hopefully!

Yes! Woo! :D I loved the first one, and I'm sure the second will be just as excellent because BENNY IS GOING PLAY SMAUG! :D
Yay!

  Yay!
as much as I love the idea of Benedict playing Smaug, I think I might die because I cried during the book when Smaug was killed and this is just going to make it worse!!!

Can't wait :D
I loved part one! I put it off for a while because my parents said it wasn't good, but they must've not had their heads on straight when they saw it. Can't wait for part two!
Riddles in the dark was exactly as I imagined it. Best part, in my opinion.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Definitely. It was the first part they filmed :D So glad you saw it, Cat! :] I. Can't. Wait. For. The. SMAUG. PART :D One of my favourite parts in the book :)

Yes...it is one of Bilbo's greatest moments. And I want to see what all of Smaug looks like. We've seen his tail and his eye, but I want to see the majestic and cruelly dangerous drake I imagined.

Sorry.
Getting excited.
>_<
Now, this may be completely weird, but Smeagol is one of my favourite characters in The Hobbit. Not so much in LotR, but definitely in The Hobbit. I think it's the fact that he's good at riddles that has swayed me :)

You're not alone, Ciara. Although in the books in LOTR I actually found Gollum to be pretty cute.

I'm sorry; what was that? Pretty cute?
Prepare to be blown away by the adorableness of SMEAGOL!

Even Bilbo is melted by his sweetness ...

Dead yet? :D
Haha, yes, I am now truly in love :) I started watching the LotR movies aged three (when they were released) and always thought Gollum wore a diaper... :D To me, he's cuter in The Hobbit.
I haven't actually seen LotR yet. >.< Still reading the book-VERY SLOWLY- and I don't want to spoil anything. But Gollum's adorable.

Yeah, I agree - I first saw him in the Hobbit. I think they got the CGI better then ... just; those expressions! And the eyes! :D He's adorable :)
@Calamity You WHAT?! No one say ANYTHING to spoil it :D I'm so excited now. You must keep reading! :3

I love the hobbit and the lord of the rings. Did you know that you can visit the set and Bilbo`s home called hobbiton. it is in new zealand though. I haven`t been but it sounds so cool!

Agreed. They're awesome.
And yes; some of my friends/family have been - (I live in NZ) I'm so jealous. It's in Matamata:

You can see the set and everything, but apparently you can't go right up to Bilbo's door anymore, because so many people went up that they wore down the steps, or something, and they had to block it off ;_;
I'm watching the movie JUST AS SOON as I finish the book. I'm about 50-55 pages away. I love it, but it takes SO LONG to read!

Leah wrote: "I'm watching the movie JUST AS SOON as I finish the book. I'm about 50-55 pages away. I love it, but it takes SO LONG to read!"Not as long as LOTR ;)
I hope you enjoy it!
Haha, yeah...I plan on reading that next! I think the reason it's taken me so long is the fact that I saw it as a Duo (Speech and Debate event) first. That's the ENTIRE reason I'm reading the book...I actually had no intention of reading it because as a rule of thumb, I dislike fantasy. Anway, I'd get to parts that the Duo team had used, and it'd click...but then my mind would wander. It's been going faster lately because it's all new material, but anyway, I'm rambling. I need to post this... :D

Six minutes. Six minutes. SIX BLOODY MINUTES.
That is NOT ENOUGH.

  That is NOT ENOUGH.
SO DID I! DOES THAT MEAN THEY CHANGED THE NUMBER AND THERE IS STILL UNSEEN FOOTAGE THAT THEY ARE KEEPING FROM US? GRRRRRRRAAAH

NO, NO, NO, NEVER! HOW COULD YOU SAY SUCH A THING?! *sobbing*It's been going around everywhere!! That it's a 13 minute extended cut -- They can't troll us like this!!
