I read this book in the 1970s. Teenage girl and boy in post-apocolyptic world. They lived in trees, spoke telepathically, children were conceived in test tubes. Sex was considered unnessecary. They discover that technology is still available in the "forbidden area" outside of their village. Can't remember title or author.

Do you recall if it was a middle grade or YA book, or more geared for adults? Set in the US, England, another country? Were the boy and the girl the only characters, or just the main characters?
