I got this book as a recommendation, and from reading the summary, it sounds very Hunger Games-esque, which, in my opinion, is NOT a good thing. So for those who have read this book, is it similar to Hunger Games? And is it worth reading?

It is similar to HG in the fact that it's dystopian, post-apocalyptic-war type thing where their world is ruled by one government thing.
But it's a little different, too. But I hated it. I found it sooooooo boring and just stupid. I hated all the characters except for one guy who I can't even remember the name of. The characters sucked and the writing style was hard to keep up with and I just generally hated it.

It isn't too similar to THG, but it isn't that great a book. It was fairly fast-paced, and had a good dystopian basis and storyline. I enjoyed the plot and the characters were okay, but I think the romance side of it really dragged. It isn't the best of Maria V Snyder's books- I would probably more recommend Fire Study. It is one of her better books.

I liked it, but again, it's a matter of opinion. Give it a try- you never know if it will be to your liking.
Thanks. I saw some reviews and many weren't positive, but I wanted to make sure. While I'm here then, are there any sci-fi non-dystopian series any of you would recommend? I've read Insignia and am halfway through Across The Universe. And I love them a lot.

Yeah, I actually liked this one a lot better than HG. I think because I like Trella much better than Katniss. And the plot for both books went in a reasonable direction, unlike the "WTH?" with Mockingjay.

i don't know that i agree with any of the similarities to THG - i feel like while they are similar based on genre - they really don't follow the same path at all.

Glitch was one, since it's about a society under ground and not knowing what's on the outside etc.
