Kim (kadykayf) So, what do you think so far? No spoilers please.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) Soo good! And if you like the first book you'll love the next two as well :) This was a very consistent series I thought.

Kim (kadykayf) I read the book 2 years ago and felt disappointed by it. I'm re-reading it for the discussion and I'm liking it so far, so maybe it's not as bad as I originally thought. But I am not typically a fan of angel books in general, so it has tainted my liking of other popular books in the past (Daughter of Smoke & Bone comes foremost in my mind, though I do still recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good book as I know others really love it). I'm very curious about the rest of the series.

kirstin ✿ (shoutohdoroki) Since you're asking our opinion I will answer honestly: I hated it. Don't kill me people, but I just hated it. So much. That it had my eyes rolling for God-knows-how-many times.

Clara annoyed me. Everything about the book was stereotype. The plot was almost nonexistent. It's boring.

I'm sorry, it very much disappointed me. You can read my full review here if you're curious.

I said everything I disliked about it in there, since almost everyone I knew loved this book.

Wow, that's an intense review, but I would agree with your many points. I liked the book okay the second time around, but it still felt a little boring to me. I would definitely agree that the author did a great job with placing us in Jackson Hole. I really wish I was there now!

I just have to let it all out. And you know, people have different views on things. I think I'm in the minority who didn't get the book at all, but I'm not sorry about that.

And yes! Jackson Hole. Really lovely place. I'm kinda getting tired of reading books which are set in uhm... rural places. Unearthly was a break to the city air. =D

About to get started on this!!!

David Estes (davidestesbooks) Eek yay!

K.J. Madsen | 5 comments I thought the style of writing was very good, but I do agree that the plot disappoints. The beginning launches you into the story well, and for that I kept reading.

Grace (gdaminato) | 520 comments I agree with K. J., I liked the beginning. I was relieved to find that the book would NOT be about how Clara learned that she was an angel. After that though...

I have to admit, I was disappointed with this pick. I considered giving it a pass but decided to read it because I saw that it had received a good review from the School Library Journal. I wasn't totally disappointed but I could have lived my life quite happily without ever reading it.

I feel that way too though I chose to read it twice: once when it came out (due to good reviews) and once for this discussion. It was fine the second time and I even liked it better, but I still would have been happy without it. :)
