Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments When young Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his adopted family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of inescapable destiny, magical forces, and powerful people. With only an ancient sword and the instruction of an old, mysterious, hermit storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a Emperor whose evil and power knows no bounds. Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands….

I am ashamed to say I have not read Eragon, I have seen the movie. I am such a horrible bookworm...

Anywho what do you guys think of Eragon? I have heard many mixed reviews...

Rachel Green I really liked Eragon! I did read it in elementary school, but I still liked it! I've been meaning to read the last one, but I think I should re-read the whole series first because I forget a lot of what happens. I remember that it was some pretty awesome imagery, and, from what I can remember, pretty good world and culture-building.

To be completely honest, the movie was absolute crap compared to the book. They completely ruined it, left out major parts and skewed the story so much it wasn't even the same. They let on at the end that there would be a sequel, but it wasn't even like they read the second book. Some of the parts they left out of the movie were so important to the next book that it would be impossible to make the next book in to a movie. So I hope you enjoy the book more than the movie :)

I hope that I will.

Alex | 5 comments I really love Eragon! I got into them when the book was new and not famous yet, and it's a really good series.

Alex | 5 comments By the way, the movie sucks compared to the books. It is a good movie, but horrible with the plot line of the book series.
Think Lightning Thief bad.

I really did like the movie of Eragon, but I agree with you about it. There were a lot of differences between the movie and the book.

Trip (shardsofromance) I'm nearing the end now and I just fell in love with it all the characters as well as scenes, I'm definitely going to continue on with the rest of the series.

To be honest this type of book is not what I would usually go for or read so I was wary when I started to read it, but after a few pages I was hooked :)

With regards to the movie I have a vague memory of watching it a few years ago and I did finish it although mainly out of boredom. It didn't capture my interest and I don't remember anything from it but the book is amazing.

Kate (kaitlins16) Not me. I'm only on book two. I should probably read that one during the summer.
