ShoSho wrote: "Why are we so behind???"I wondered the same thing. Those other teams must be reading at all times. I feel like I do nothin but read, so I can't imagine the time they're spending.
ShoSho wrote: "Why are we so behind???"I don't know... :( Maybe some of the other teams underestimated their goals? Most of us are on track or there abouts...
I've just finished a bit of a big one which I would have finished sooner if I hadn't been home, it was too good to keep putting down!! I can definitely recommend
to anyone, I think the only thing that kept the lump in my throat materialising into tears was the fact I was on the train when I read the end. Such an amazing book!
Yeah, I think you ladies get the prize for being the most on track, not behind or ahead of your goals.
Remind me to give you an award at the end of all this for that. Or maybe sooner. ☺

Yeah, another award for us!!I have a yellow hand pointing up beside my name and the key says goals not on track?? Why??
Claire, that book looks great. I just went to our library's website and Indigo's website and alas I can't get it here in Canada (at least not yet) :-(
I just finished A Game of Thrones / A Clash of Kings. The preview widget won't let me bring up the correct book. I read only A Game of Thrones, not A Clash of Kings (Game of Thrones alone was 800+ pages).I see Amazon has started messing with book covers and ID's :-(
One chunkster down! ☺
Did you enjoy it Cathie? I have to say, the chunksters might be contributing to the fact we're slightly behind. I thought 500 pages was good but on a quick browse through the bookshelves, you've read Game of Thrones and Phyllis has read two books of over 1000 pages! Which is great going :)
I did enjoy it Claire! :-).I don't know why we are behind; I read every chance I get and for the month of May have read 14 books so far ~ that's 1 every 2 days and only 1 didn't count towards this challenge because it was too small. Other months I have read 17 & 19 books per month...I don't think I can read anymore than I am doing right now. I wonder how other teams do it?
Lisa Kay wrote: "You feeling a bit better, ♥Robin♥? You have the day off?"I got sick again and ended up at the dr's office on Thursday :( I have another viral infection...or at least that is what the doc said. I have missed 3 days of work (wed, thurs and sat) I was off yesterday and today. I'm going to try to go back to work tomorrow.
Hope you're feeling stronger and better soon Robin; you poor thing ~ this has been going on for far too long :-(
I have only read 9 books this month and usually I read anywhere between 25-35. I think part of the reason I am behind is due to being sick and my work hours. Hopefully with all my medicine I will get to feeling better and can get back on track. I've been in a little bit of a reading slump...I have several books started and none of them finished. Hopefully in the next few days I will get a few knocked out and posted. It's also been a little busy around my house getting everything ready for summer-the pool, the new privacy fence, the well, the garden, the fences around flower beds, preparing for the garage addition and the list just seems to go on and on LOL
At least we are staying on track :) A prize sounds really nice!!!!
Cathie wrote: "Hope you're feeling stronger and better soon Robin; you poor thing ~ this has been going on for far too long :-("Thanks Cathie!! Yes, it has been going on for far too long(about 2 months now) I'm beginning to wonder if I am being misdiagnosed.
Sounds like you are just plain exhausted Robin. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy your beautiful garden and pool area and get some much needed relaxation. No wonder you are worn down woman! :-)I just finished Five Quarters of the Orange
. One of the best reads I've been privileged to have this year.My review of it is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/edit/...
I definitely recommend it to everyone ☺
Oh Robin, I really hope you start feeling better soon.Your garden sounds lovely, with a pool :) Not something we have much use for over here!! ;)
As for being behind, don't worry, you've got a good reason and we'd all rather you got better :) From what I worked out, you aren't that far behind anyway.
Lisa Kay wrote: "Was the audio well narrated, Kme_17? I used to listening to spiritual CDs when I used to run. I should pop one in and start walking again. (I know I can't run. LOL!)"its okay Lisa Kay, the auido was great the book was just okay : )

I hate to say this but Shosho, you can't say the Dresden files as from my bookshelf. The books have to be read on/after April 12. So they won't work. Sorry.LK, can I also use Heart of Obsidian from ShoSho's shelf provided that she finishes before/same day as me?
Vi wrote: "LK, can I also use Heart of Obsidian from ShoSho's shelf provided that she finishes before/same day as me?"Definitely.

Oops thanks I missed that !
Vi wrote: "ShoSho! Let's finish on the same day (even if you are ahead by 2 hours) :)"I'll try my best
I hope I get the book a day ahead of you but I'm aiming to finish it on the same day as you.and It also fits Seven, total seven words with the title, series name, and author combined.
Hiya! Sorry, been very busy running around in the lab the last few days! Are you all happy for me to sort the spreadsheet out properly on Saturday/Sunday, once we've started the challenge? :)
Sounds good Claire! Thank you. Don't run around too much...we need you to not be exhausted for the read-a-thon, lol. (It's all about us, ROFLMOL!)
How did things go with the house prospect?
Thank you :)I wish I wasn't running around as much!! Had a nice furniture shopping trip to IKEA tonight though :)
And I'm just waiting on the references etc to be done so fingers crossed! Although I'm a bit annoyed to have to pay an admin fee to my current agents for a reference... seems a bit cheeky to me!
I remember when we were qualifying for our first home I had to submit my college transcripts. I had returned to college for a second career and they wanted to know I wasn't laying around the house drunk all the time. I was livid. When I presented them, in a sealed envelope by the admissions office, to real estate agent he was shocked. He said, "But these are straight A's?" I llooked him in the eye and said, "So? I still don't feel you have the right to see them. Nor what bearing they have on our purchasing a house."
BTW, they weren't all straight A's. There were a couple B's. He just didn't look closely enough. But I won't go on a tangent about that.

Never heard of college transcript being required for buying a house .You have tough rules there
That sounds like a lot of hassle LK! I'll be interested to see what happens if I go back for another undergrad degree (which might happen!) This is the first flat I've gone for that isn't a student one so it's all new to me!At least the agents I'm dealing with for the new house seem nice enough and they were recommended by a friend. It's just the old ones! I'm slightly concerned about what the reference will be as I kind of kicked up a stink about the state of the heating in our flat - 8 degrees in the bathroom in autumn and they didn't see the problem, even with damp everywhere and an asthmatic flatmate! Funnily enough, 'Environmental Health' seem to be the magic words!! :)
Claire wrote: "Funnily enough, 'Environmental Health' seem to be the magic words!! :)"
LMBO! Yeah, funny how those magic words work.
LMBO! Yeah, funny how those magic words work.
I always get a little bit confused. Is college the equivalent of our university (18+)? Or is it high school age? (11-18)

Ah ok, thank you, we have colleges here but they usually focus on 16-18 year olds on slightly more vocational subjects (although some do degrees as well)

Luckily enough we got the heating replaced the day before the snow started in January :)
Lisa Kay wrote: "Yes, we call them "vocational colleges.""Ahh, ok. Thank you :) You can even learn something new at 11.30 at night :)

. 5 Stars!! An Absolutely Amazing piece of fiction!"Does this fall under his normal genre of horror type books? Or is it non-scary? I'm not good with horror but this one sounds interesting! :)
It is not horror Claire, it is alternative history. And mystery, suspense, a love story (yes, really!) and science fiction.
Give it a go; I believe you will be very pleasantly surprised :-)
