✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Great :) Just sent off #23. I've struggled to keep track of when new ones appear!!

Haven't finished my book tonight but I'll finish it tomorrow or Saturday.

I'll be semi-disappearing from tomorrow mid afternoon til Sunday early afternoon, I'll post an update before I go and when I come back and I'll keep checking in every so often :)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments Gosh I can't keep up with the puzzles; last time I looked there were 20, now there are 25 and you have done them!! Woohoo! Thanks :-)

I finished reading 2 books over the last couple of days:
Fire Fire (Graceling Realm, #2) by Kristin Cashore (5 stars!! ~ I love this series. It counts towards as my book towards our theme :-) (#2 in the series)

471 pages

Forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma (4.5 stars!)

454 pages

Total pages: 2020!!! Way over my goal of 1400!

Sorry, I should have upped my goal when you asked Claire (and there's still 3 more days left in the challenge)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 446 comments I reached my goal yesterday :)

Cathie , I read a lot of reviews about forbidden , I don't think I can stomach the incest in it! but it seems that you really liked it.

message 555: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments It is a very taboo difficult subject to read about, but the author handled it with such grace and tact and just told the story. I had just as much problems with the mother and father and mother's boyfriend in the story as I did the incest topic. It is not a feel good story but it is a story that is written very poignantly.

Yes, I did. She is the Indian girl that was with Lewis and Clack on their trip to the west coast. Now I need to get busy reading Gone with the Wind, another 1000+ page book for one of my challenges.

No I really didn't. Back in the 80's everyone was reading Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews which a lot of people adored and had the same general theme of incest in it. So I didn't really have a problem with this book.

I rated it two stars and don't know why I gave it that because it was more like 1 1/2 stars. I didn't really care for it, just not my kind of story. It was slow, boring and the first 100 or so pages was really confusing.I was lost and really couldn't figure out what was going on and still not sure I know. I am still wondering what the connection there is between the school and the car wreck...shrugging shoulders LOL This book has a lot of high ratings but I don't get it. There were two plots going on at the same time and both of them moved along boringly slow. The writing was very disjointed and there was no relationship between the two plots. It kind of wraps up at the end but IMO it shouldn't take 500 pages to finally bring a story together.Overall, I didn't like any of the characters, the plots were SLOOOOWWWW, no action and the story didn't actually come together until the very end. This is a book that I could of skimmed and been done with in 10 minutes and still would have known everything I know now. Under normal circumstances this book would've gone to the DNF pile after the first 30-50 pages but I needed it for my challenges LOL

message 579: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments Hmmm ♥Robin♥ maybe I will have to rethink reading this one...

Sorry you didn't enjoy it; it's always frustrating to waste time with a book, especially when you have invested time and the ending doesn't fulfill you.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 450 comments I'm home!!! Great job with the RaT, Atomic teammates :)

Claire, glad you had a fun time.

My interviews went well. Both principals said they were making a decision by Friday. The one for the 6th grade science/math classroom said I was the most qualified for the position out of all she's looking at. That sounds encouraging to me lol

Thanks Cathie!!! You might enjoy the book as it appears that a lot of readers did. I think the biggest turn off for me with this book is it was so confusing and took sooooooooo long for the plot lines to fall in place. It's really hard to read a book that is slow because that means it is usually boring LOL

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Hope everyone's had/having a good day. Mine wasn't great, the letting agent rang this morning to tell me they'd taken a holding deposit from someone on the house I was going to look at this afternoon, a house I really liked the look at :( And then I got stuck in work as usual (I'm half tempted to take up residence!)

To cap it all off, I went on an emotional roller-coaster ride and finished The Way They Were by Mary Campisi !! Absolutely amazing, I loved it, definitely going to try more of her books.
